Samells and son, Bill spent a long weekend in Parry Sound where they attended a family reunion. The Port Perry Gong Show on Thursday night was certainly well attended. We were very proud to see So many young participants from the Island and also to have some of the honours come our way. Some of the names that deserve mention are Aldred, Jackson, Pren- tice, Freeman, Driscoll, Brown and Parker. They all showed good sportsman- ship and added much to the evening. We convey our appreciation. Saturday was indeed a busy day with crowds spread around. There was the large number at the Bell sale on Alva St. where the "Head" U.C.W. sold re- freshments. Then a wedd- ing at "Grace" church on the Island for a young couple from Oshawa. These newly weds were Michael Birch and Wendy Jelly. Michael's father is a teacher at Durham College and his sister had been married by Rev. Barry Pogue two years ago, when they became interested in the Island Church. The Jelly family had been in Rev. Clarke's Pastorate for 40 years resulting in a double interest in the chosen place for their wedd- ing. Accordingly members of the Jsland church extend best wishes to them. Joan Mueller from the Sunrise Beach road became a bride in Port Perry and the newly weds had their reception served by the "Grace" U.C.W. in the Island community hall. Second hole in one (continued . hole. And for Ritchie it was his second ace at Sunnybrae in less than two years. Playing in a members tournament with Pat. Morrow, Glen Jackson and Bruce Haugen, Ritchie used a nine for the 140 yards. The ball hit the green and rolled into the cup. Last year he scored his first p UR NE ROGRA THEY'RE EATING IT UP! hole-in-one on the par three 16th. While it's a great thrill for any golfer, Ritchie said that the ace didn't help his team to victory in the competi- tion. And of course, when the word got around, he was a very popular guy at the 19th hole where it's a tradi- tion that the golfer who scores the hole-in-one buys the drinks.
