One day we turned the furnace on and the next day the air conditioner. It's great to have a little more seasonal temperatures again though. Let's hope the warm weather hangs in there for a few more weeks yet. There was a good turn-out of players as well as spec- tators at the ball park on Sunday night as the Sea- grave old-timers met in a game with the Mariposa team. There were some good plays by both teams but when everything was tallied up Mariposa had the edge "SOP P PPO 000000000000 80888000088888888888888888088888888808888888888888880080888008000000000000000000000. over Seagrave by a score of 28-24, A Congrattilations are in order this week as Mst. Mr. and Mrs. Bill 'Jansen were dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs, Wayne McCully on Wednesday, August 24. Both couples celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary. They were also surprised by a visit from Gloria and Dorothy from the store. Happy Anniversary to all of you, Many happy returns to Mr, Bud Wylie who celebrated his "21st" birthday on Sun- 'day, August 28. Corn roasts seem to be the "in" thing this summer and this weekend was certainly no exception. Ken and Elea- nor Sturman hosted a corn _roast and 'deck-warming'. party on- Saturday evening 'for several friends in the community and Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Luke hosted the annual Port Perry Snow- mobile Club Corn Roast "at their farm on Saturday even- ing as well. According to our trusty little grapevine I've heard of a few other corn' roasts coming up in the near future. Let's hope the weatherman co-operates favourably. As we get into gear for the fall season I'd like to remind you of a couple of upcoming events you should be keeping in mind. <4 4 POPP PP PPPPPP PPP PPPIPPPPPT POPP POPPIN ALLOA at the New PORT PERRY ARENA Music by FRIDAY Admission: $3.00 Per Person Communities Greatest Needs SATURDAY "Venus" - rocusanas "Spice of Life" SPONSORED BY THE Proceeds for Serving the KINSMEN CLUB OF PORT PERRY 00 OOO DOOD OOOO ODDO DDD DDD DD DDD ODDO DDD DD DDD DDD DDD POPP ON 2.0.8.5 -~ Have you purchased your ticket for the Eaton's presen- tation of Fall Fashions?. ' On Sunday my family and I attended the Uxbridge- Scott = Museum's Steam Threshing Days at Quaker Hill and to my surprise I saw a gentleman from our village - -- by the name of Mr. Walter King there demonstrating his miniature steam engine that he designed and built himself and it truly is a piece of art. He also has built a miniature' saw mill that really works. The "'surprise' part of seeing him there was the fact that Mr. King was seriously ill earlier on this spring and spent several weeks in hospital so it was quite a pleasant surprise to see him well enough and able to enjoy his most favourite hobby - and - pastime. It certainly gives others a great deal of pleasure too, ~ Mr.-King: : Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin on Wednesday of last week were her nephew Walter and Mrs. Gale, Steven, Kim and Glenn Gale and Miss Joyce Williamson of Van Nuys, California, her nephew Douglas and Mrs. Gale, Bonna-Lynn, Scott and Andrew Gale of Oro Station and her brother-in- law and sister, Jack and Mrs. Gale of Manitoulin Mares milk production doesn't up a nant and milking fhares and / diet for foals.
