The group toured the old Palmer home on Simcoe Street and had a brief dedi-. cation ceremony in front of the statue of Palmer in the park named after him on Water Street. Palmer, who was born in Port Perry in 1845, is the founder of chiropractic, and performed the-first adjust- ment on a patient Sep- tember 18, 1895. At the statue in Palmer Pineridge Garden Club enjoys guest speaker by Claudia McDiarmid On Tues. Sept. 6th, the Pineridge Garden Club Scugog held their monthly meeting at Nestleton Com- munity Centre. The minutes were read by Mrs. Chris Wilson after which Mrs. Newton announ- ced the winners of the photo contest which was judged by the public at Blackstock Fair. Photo 7 held by Mrs. Bajema won the cash prize and photo 2 held by Mrs. Claudia McDiarmid came in 2nd. Pagowski from the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamil- ton. Mr. Pagowski gave us a very humorous and delight- ful discussion on "Spring Flowering Bulbs". Scugog Mayor Lawrence Malcolm welcomed the students to Port Perry and a basket of flowers was placed in front of the statue of Palmer, The occasion marked the first time in several years that students from the Chiropractit College had. made the trip to the home of David Palmer. It was part of their first week of orientation. Following a lunch at Latcham Centre the stu- dents took a swim in the Birdseye Park pool before returning to Toronto by bus. private gardens truly show- ed the wide range of colours and bulbs to choose from. Our enjoyable evening ended with social time.
