Ianson Everyone is invited to attend anniversary church service at Seagrave United church next Sunday. There will be no service here. World Wide Communion will be celebrated in all the churches on Sullday, Oct- ober 2nd. Anyone interest- ed in joining the choir would be most welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bing- man of Lindsay were supper guests on Sunday with Mrs. Myrtle Thomas. Mrs. Roy Leask attended the Daheim Nursing Home tea and bazaar in Uxbridge recently. The teacher-librarian at Greenbank School tells us that there are several books missing from the school library. If you have any of these books in your home she would appreciate it if you would return them to the school. If this is incon- venient, please phone the school at 985-2567 and they will be picked up. Mr. and Mrs. B. DeRies and family of Kettleby were dinner-guests with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mount on Sun- day. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lee were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lee in Toronto. Visitors calling on Mr. and Mrs, Roy Leask last Friday were Miss Irene Wren and Mrs. Edith Lane of Toronto. Mrs. Jean Robinson from Stayner is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Don McKean for a few days. Please remember the Arts and Craft show and sale in Centennial Hall on October 8. We are sorry to report Mrs. Tony Minton is in hospital in Uxbridge and Mrs. Keith Bacon is still in Port Perry hospital. We wish a speedy recovery to both these ladies. Mother Nature has been a mixed up Lady this season. Iva Phoenix reports picking more than 12 pints of luscious raspberries this past week. The plants were partly killed back in. the spring -with the -unseason- able weather but are now bearing this late crop. On Saturday last, Frank, Carol and Lee Rott together with other distributors and their families toured the Amway distribution centre in London, Ontario. After- Clare Snodden's farm ward everyone celebrated Free: Enterprise Day at Glen and Eleanor Dawson's farm at Thorndale, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Skinner and Marnie were Sunday visitors with Mr, and Mrs. Fred Phoenix. ' Miss Heather Howsam who is attending the University in Guelph was at her home over the weekend. Plowmen's Assoc. annual match On Monday, September 12, 1977, the annual plowing match, sponsored by the Region of Durham, Rama and Mara Plowmen's Assoc- iation, was held on the farm of Clare Snoddon, RR 4, Sunderland, under ideal soil and weather conditions. A total of 64 lands were plowed by the 39 contestants who took part in the day's program. In the morning, the Utility classes were plowed, with 25 entries in two classes, and in the afternoon A beneficial program for any young person 12 years and over is the Child Care Program offered by the Durham Region Family Y.M.C.A. The course was developed by the Lung Association to establish a high standard- of baby- sitting. During the ten week course the lecture topics will be based on Good Health, Good Character, Child Care and the regular classes were plowed, with 37 entries. In addition, there were two entries in the'Queen of the Furrow Contest. | The winner of the Queen of the Furrow class this year was Miss Gail McGuckin, Mount Albert. Gail will represent the local associa- .tion at the International Plowing Match to be held at Kingston during the week of September 27th to October 1st. Also, representing the local association in the Inter- nursery teacher and an ambulance attendant. There is an examination at the conclusion of the course and participants will record all lectures in a notebook and make a Babysitters Kit. Only twenty-five partici- 'this course.
