Monday. was Hallowe'en! All faithful patriots of the Great Pumpkin. skipped trick-ar-treating to sit in the shallow. depths of a chilling pumpkin patch 'as their majestic leader rose out of the patch, flew through the air and gave great multitud- es of toys and presents to all the good bdys and girls. Rumour goes that a few of the teachers pulled in quite a haul of presents while the others were out begging for sweets. I hope it was a successful night for all who participated. Also, our Hallowe'en candy sales were up to expectation. With a little prompting the money was- brought in and slowly our leftover candies have been depleted. Many thanks to those who supported us. Graduates will be coming back from far and wide to attend the Commencement exercises on Saturday, Nov- 1, oo _ py ember 5 at 8:30 at the Rec. Centre and everyone is wel- 'come to/attend. . The Glee Club hasbeen tuning up for a month, the three new songs to be presented that night. They hate come a long way and it will be entertaifffig to hear the chosen selections. Also lined up for the evening is a one-act play put on by the Year 5 English drama class. . The Sadie Hawkin's dance was held last Friday. Though everyone was not coupled up, we had a good turnout. Hope the wicked witch of the west didn't 'get you! Appleyard symphony coming to Town Hall The next concert event at. Town Hall 1873 is a must for lovers of good music. No less than Oshawa Symphony Orchestra will be featured on Monday, November 14, and as an extra treat listeners will have the opportunity of hearing the great Canadian Vibes artist Peter Appleyard and his group. t: Oshawa Symphony Orch- estra under the direction of the young and talented Roy V. Mr. Cox is a serious music- ian and has studied with a number of outstanding pedagogues of national and international stature. Be- side his studies as a conduct- or, he is also a member of the Toronto Symphony playing the oboe. Following a few years as" percussionist, Peter Apple- yard "fell in love with the vibes" and concentrated his musical career on that in- strument. He "has played with top orchestras in both Canada and the United States, but he' is particularly proud of the opportunity he had of play- ing with Benny Goodman and "his orchestra for a month in Rockefeller Center's famous Rainbow Grill, New York: Admission to this great event is only $5.00 and tickets are available at Port Perry Star or by calling 985-3043.
