a re by Bob. Storry Sunday afternoon at Ux- bridge the Legionaires staged a strong third period rally, coming back from a two goal deficit, to defeat the home side 6 to 5 Those Pee Wee fans who stayed home to watch the C.F.W. Western finals, missed the most exciting game of the season. Not unexpected, Uxbridge play- ed a much stronger game Winning effortby than they did in their pre- vious encounter with Port, which the Legionaires won handily 6 to 1. Port opened the scoring in the first minute of play when S. Lee scored from Young. Uxbridge tied it up three minutes later when Redshaw scored. I .ess than, a minute later Redshaw set' up Atchison in front of the net and Uxbridge had a 2 to 1 lead. The teams changed Stone's PeeWees by Bill Dickson Stone's Real Estate Pee Wees travelled to Stouffville on Friday evening, where they overpowered the local club 4-2. This was Port's best effort so far this season. Stone's played an excellent game with everyone giving their best. The Port Perry boys opened the scoring at the 9:45 mark of the first period, on a goal by Greg Williams assisted by an Dickson and Kevin Fergu- son. This goal was the result of a fine stop by Paul Kingston in the Port net. Stone's picked up the re- bound and went straight down the ice to score. Stouffville were fortunate to be down by only 1 goal at the end of this period. Period two saw Stone's again dominate play, scoring 3 goals to Stouff- ville"s one. On the first, early in the period, John Vaz fired one home assisted by Kevin Ferguson. Rob Long made it 3-0 with a fine shot with Greg Williams getting the assist at the 3 minute mark. Stouffville replied with a goal by Peter Bandula. mand 2 minutes later when Steve DeHaas made a great pass to John Vaz who raced in to score. The third period saw Stone's tiring but checking exceptionally well and miss- ing narrowly on several occasions. However, Stouff- ville managed to squeeze one in late in the period to finish off the scoring. As said earlier, this was a great effort from all the boys and they are to be congratulated on an excell- ent display of team work. Port's team consisted of Paul Kingston in goal, Paul Bateman (absent from this game due to sickness), on defence, \ Mike Cleveland, Mike Pratt and a welcome addition Vaughan McKee. On For- ward were Kevin Ferguson, Kevin Fowler, Brian Stevenson, Ian Dickson, Rob Long, John Vaz and captain Greg Williams. Dyno meeting by Zoe Rohrer Approximately fifty snow- mobilers turned out for the regular monthly meeting of the Cartwright Dyno's Snowmobile Club at the Nestleton Hall on Sunday evening, Nov. 20. A delici- ous potluck supper was enjoyed before the meeting. The Dyno's have decided this year to open fifteen miles of trails for public use under the Dept. of Natural Resources grant system. Mr. Tom Smith from the Natural Resources office in Lindsay was present to answer questions and ex- plain the program to club members. He also provided a slide presentation on snowmobile safety. An invitation was receiv- ed from Utica Farm Equip- ment for all club members to attend a "Snowmobile Safety Clinic" on Dec. 6 at the Utica Hall. Plans were discussed for the annual Boxing Day "Games Day" to be held at Lloyd Gilbank's on Dec. 26. This is always a very enjoy- able day with various tests of snowmobileing skills and lots of fun for the whole family. Trail crews have been working hard on Saturdays and Sundays and the trails are coming along well for the fast approaching winter season. There is still how- ever, a great deal of work yet to be done, and all members were urged to come out and help. Everything seems to be shaping up for a very good season of snowmobiling this, year. With individual club events and C.0.R.S.A.'s two-day ride in January and Snow-a-rama in February, it will be a busy winter. Think Snow! His teammates responded late in the second period with their third goal of the game and it was all tied up as the teams headed The Ux- for their break between the second and third periods. Uxbridge got two quick goals to start the third period. The Legionaires never quit and S. Lee got one back at the 11:01 mark, his third of the game. Uxbridge then missed a golden opportunity to score as they had our defence beaten and our goaltender out of position but couldn't hit the open net. Young then got a break and scored unassisted to tie the game again. This was the best team effort to date, as everyone was really working particularly in that third period. Port were two men short at one point in the third period. Good forechecking by the ever industrious Young and Jones, who took turns up front killing off the penalties; and a couple of big defensive plays, one by cane and one by Martens on defence held Uxbridge off the score sheet.
