The Christmas Bazaar held Saturday afternoon in the Anglican Church Hall was a busy place. With the display of hand-made dolls are Mrs. Agnes Garvey (left) and Mrs. Mary Allen. Heron The first Sunday in Advent was observed last Sunday morning at Burns church. Two little brothers, Bradley and Christopher Batten assisted Rev. McEntyre in lighting the Advent wreath. The morning message was taken from Isaiah 'Our Stewardship .of Shaloam". The senior choir sang "Lord of All Hopefullness. Mrs. R. Batten took care of Junior Church. Next Sunday the Sacrement of the Lords Supper will be observed at 11:15 a.m. Everyone wel- come. ' There will be a candle light service on Christmas eve. . These services have been well attended and enjoyed in the past few years and we look forward to this one this coming Christmas eve at 7:30 p.m. . There was a coffee party held at the Community Hall last Thursday morning. The purpose was to welcome and get to know the new ladies and their children of the community. Don't forget the Christmas Concert to be held in the Centre on Dec, 16th at 7:30 p.m. The Burns Welcome Club sponsored a 'Creative Fun for Little Ones' evening at the church on Tuesday night last week when Donna Harris and Ester Buchanan gave a very interesting dis- play of toys and interesting talk to mothers also showed slides. A social time _was spent over a cup of tea and lunch. The members of the Brooklin Horticulture Soc- . iety in our area enjoyed a delicious dinner last Wednes- day evening in the Brooklin United Church Hall to cele- brate the closing of the year. The tables were beauti- fully decorated with lighted candles and the food was so good. The election of new offi- cers took place and Mr. John Jefferies is now presi- dent. We would like to say a very warm "Thank You" to Margaret Davis of Ashburn for a job well done, who is now past president. Friends of Miss Mary ill | Ashburn area news Hopkins will be glad to know she is well enough to leave Oshawa Hospital. Mary is now in the hospital wing of Fairview lodge. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late Alfred Fisher who passed away in Meata, Saskatchewan last week. The funeral was on Monday of this week.
