High school news by Sheila O'Reilly The countdown begins... only 25 days and it's Christ- mas eve. That of course means a weeks holidays - but probably no time to rest. December is one of Port . High's busiest months. (Along with January, Feb- \ruary and March etc.) Our photo machine hag been rented from December 12 through to the 16th. Start gathering your favorite photos now. Jacket orders will begin on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Monday and Tuesday were strictly set-up days, giving everyone a changetotryona jacket for fit and feel. We decided on two styles: 1. 100 percent nylon, approximate cost $40.00. These jackets include a thermal lining. 2. . Melton jackets with leather sleeves, approximate cost $56.00 These have a quilted lining. Anyone who did not receive a newsletter with further details on school jackets are asked to pick one up at the office and read carefully! Fundraising Plans are in effect for the week before Christmas, possibly Christ- mas Carolling for the school. Proceeds of any endeavour will be given to the Durham Region Family Councelling Unit in Oshawa for food and gifts to needy families at Christmas. We've planned a sleigh ride, tobaggon party at Pine- wood Place for the Grade 13's on December 21st. We're hoping to see at least 76 of our 76 grade 13's there and having fun! (Dust off your harmonicas and tune up those guitars. Anyone in Grade 13, willing to have a little fun is invited!) Our Toyland float for Sat- urday's Santa Claus parade is well underway and organi- zers are hoping for a good turnout to help in the final preparations. If you have a costume and want to be on the float or would lend your costume to someone, please tell AnnRose or Sue Mec- Dougall. We hope to feature the well known group 'Wednesday' at our December 16th dance. This dance will be our Annual "Semi-formal". (That doesn't necessarily mean to start saving for a . new pair of jean!!!) The Grade 13 - Teacher volleyball game on Friday was only half a success - our team lost! The spirit shown by the MALE teachers in our school is overwhelming! We are however hoping to be honoured with the presence of at least one female teacher next week!! Candy canes will be distri- buted to each student on Friday Dec. 23. One good reason why your School and Council would like to see YOU at school at that day. Remember with that countdown only......45 days till January Exam time. ELMER'S FURNITURE PORT PERRY PLAZA 985-2847 4 pc.
