< y you want on a 2" a of ET Aes Busy month at Port Perry H.S. By Sheila O'Reilly Christmas is coming, and there's chaos at P.P.H.S. December seems to be one of our busiest months, but we do have everything under control. To begin with, our jackets have had to be altered, and prices have dropped! We have printed a new inform- ation sheet, available in the office. Pick one up for an inexpensive look at an investment into your future. (Jackets now $28.00 and $41.00 - approx.) Please ask questions, and order now - before it's too late. Button sales began this week and we're having a rest! This nifty little machine prints anything round button for only 75c¢ each. ($1.00 for the losers who don't own an important P.P.H.S. activity card. P.S. They are still on sale!!) We have rented this machine for one week only, just .in time for Christmas, so gather you pictures, say- ings and_ photos before Dec. 16 and wear an button on your coat. (They make excellent stocking ¢stuffers!) _ Our semi-formal, this Fri. December 16, features "Wenzday" and doors open at 8:30. We're hoping Santa and his helpers will be able to make a quick visit some- ¢ time during the evening; and if you're good Santa may even bring some goodies!! On Wednesday, December 14, the Student Council exe- cutive will travel to Donevan "original" ~ in Oshawa for the first annual "Regional Student, Council" meeting. Each' school has been asked to prepare a skit, helping to introduce themselves to the rest of the schools. Since Port Pexry has played a major role in -helping to instigate such a council, we're hoping that everything will go as planned, and that this meeting will be the first of many more to come in the following months and years. The Christmas Assembly - is well underway and lots of support has been shown, pro- mising to make it an enter- taining and "well worth your while" time off school! (Dec. 21). Grade 13's are asked to submit their downpayments "for jerseys or they won't be coming! (Bug Mommy and Daddy for your neat."Glass of "78" shirt!) Preparations have begun for the Winter Carnival, planned for February's snow, and -all help is needed. . Regular meetings are being held after school and evenings for April's "At Home". Organizers are asking for help from every- one, and they hope that if you are interested in the formal, you'll give a little of your "spare'" time now, before it's too late. Port Perry hosted Ux- bridge's Senior basketball team last week and both teams stayed pretty well at par for most of the game. The final score ended at 97-46 for Port. These appointments were recommended at a hall Board meeting held in Manchester December 8. ; NO DEVELOPMENT Council turned thumbs down to a proposed 142 single family unit subdivision on Regional Road 2 about two miles south of Port Perry. Mr. Paul Wilson, president of Tashkan Ltd. told council that the plan calls for the development of the lots on private septic systems and water piped from Port Perry. Council quickly pointed out that it is not the Township policy to pipe municipal water outside the Port Perry boundaries. Council passed a motion stating that the Township is not considering any development in the proposed area. NEW RADIOS Scugog Roads superintendent Ron MacDonald has recommended that the Township purchase a two-way radio system for the works department. Mr. MacDonald told council that the present system is more than 10 years old and the rental fee is now $862 per month. 'A new system could be purchased at a little more than $500 per month over a five-year period. A similar request will be made for a soccer field at the Blackstock Fair Grounds. Mr. Brian Yeo of the Soc- cer Association told council Monday night that the popul- arity of the sport is such that expanded facilities are now necessary. The field at the high school now used by the Port Perry soccer teams is not entirely satisfactory in that it is too large for the very young players and the grass is not cut often enough during the summer soccer season. A letter submitted to coun- cil by Mr. Yeo indicated that in 4977 about 75 boys and girls from the Port Perry Escorted : MOTORCOACH- Tours to: JACKSONVILLE BEACH (Florida) 14 $299.
