Sherri was ably assisted on two of her goals by Debbie Warriner and Chriss Heur- kins. We would like to thank Mrs. Newell for stepping in at game time as coach of Children's Boutique. She did a fine job. Country Village's only goal came from Jackie Abraham assisted by Linda Warriner. Bonnie Bridge gets the Sportsmanship award from Ringette and Sundae from the Dairy Bar for doing an excellent job on defence for Children's Boutique. Many of our defence girls would do well to try to be involved in their teams offence as well as Bonny demonstrated on Saturday. Young Hardware turned their power on full against a tiring Country Village to beat them 10 to 4. The Hardware Gang have a super passing team and old Rosie Rihg just flies from one stick to another before she bounces in the net. As evidence of their passing ability, the scoring is well spread among the forwards with Karen Young getting three goals and 2 assists, Sharon Ashmore, three goals and one assist, Wendy McDougall 1 goal and 1 assist, Bonny Burton 2 goals and Karen Statham notching her first assist. : Sharon Ashmore was pick- ed as the best sport for her team and Ringette for Young Hardware, we're sure she'll enjoy her sundae at the Dairy Bar. Country Village goals were scored by Barb Elliot with three, Joanne Free with one and Linda Warriner with one assist. Joanne Free was our choice as sports girl for this week for Country Village. She played super up and down the wing for both games and kept a positive hard working attitude through both games. Well done Joanne. I personally would like to add congratulations to two girls on Saturday who tried their skill at refereeing. We were short staff in all depart- ments on Saturday due to our involvement in the Coaches Clinic put on by Minor Hockey so we asked Karen Young and Sherri Allen, who have had previous Ringette experience to help referee so wouldn't have to cancel our games. They did a super job with happy faces which makes me proud of them. Ringette will grow in Port with girls like this to lead the way. Oshawa downs Novice All-Stars The Mersco Novice All Stars dropped a 3-1 decision to Oshawa Little NHL Black Hawks in a contest played Sunday morning at Hamp- ton Arena. Dave Buriwtt scored the lone goal for Port Perry while Mike Cole had two and Rob Luke a single for the winners. The other Novice All Stars game last week was cancelled because of bad weather.
