A Wedding Dance for Joy and Gord Malcolm was held in Nestleton Community Hall on Saturday evening. A most enjoyable evening was had by all. U.C.W. EVENING UNIT Our Christmas meeting was held on December 7th at the home of Joanne Lee: The meeting opened by wel- coming our rew visitors. The minutes of the meet- ing were read and approv- ed. We were all reminded to bring our Christmas cookies for the Sunday School program on December 18 at 7:00 p.m. and our Christmas. Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on December 25th. The worship read by Shirley Gibson which was based on Christmas, that we should remember Christ first, then choose our gifts very carefully for each member of our family and friends. ' U.C.W. AFTERNOON The general meeting of the U.C.W. was held in the Christian Education room with twenty seven members present. The afternoon unit con- ducted worship service "One Special Night", Audrey Wright, as Joel, an old man, told the Christmas story as he remembered it when he was a small boy. The other ladies acted the story. : Our program theme was Supply and Social Service. Margaret Mountjoy intro- duced Mr. Ken Drudge from the Mens Hostel in Oshawa. Mr. Drudge showed some interesting slides and told Manch by Mrs. Ruby Fielding Church Sunday, December 18 at 11:15 a.m. Rev. C. Clarke in charge. This will be the Sunday School Service with their band. On Dec. 23, White Gift Service and Candle light service at 8:00 p.m. Sunday school will serve cookies and punch. A special Thank You to Mrs. Millie Ives for the poinsettia placed in our church. A large number of friends and neighbours called on Mr. Jim Mitchell to celebrate his eightieth - birthday Sunday afternoon. In the evening a family dinner was enjoyed by his daughter, Alberta and Len Roberts, Ruth and Ben Hitchens, Gaile and 'Bob Brockman and sons Lyle and Gerry of Ajax, June Thomp- daughter Jeanne Foster and son Stephen of Canarvon, Peter and Karen Cooling, Christo- pher and Stephanie of Willowdale, - Karen Cox, Harvey Aitchisen of Oakville about the work they do in the hostel. A committee was named to look into new drapes and teaclothes for the C.E. room. Jean Adams told us a bit about our adopted boy in India. = Eileen Mec- Laughlin reported on the repairs done to the church this year. Our Christmas program will be December 18th and there will be lunch after- wards. We decided to buy a record as well as individual plants for the people in the Nursing Home this year. A Caribbean Festival is being planned for next year. The" Evening Unit served lunch. Winners at the Senior Citizens weekly card party with 13 tables were: 1st. - Esther Chapman, 83; 2nd - Alvin Spencer, 77; 3rd - Belle Werry, 72; 4th - Grant Bright, 72; 5th - Meta Swain, 72; 6th - Ray Brown, 71. Low prize - Freeman McCullough. ester and Ralph Kimberely of Oshawa. The highlight of the day was a telephone call from their son Arthur and family of Baltimore among the many other telephone ® calls received. ~~ 4-H Achievement Day was: held at Trinity United Church on Saturday. Con- gratulations to the 19 girls of Manchester area who comp- pleted their unit and to Mrs. Pat Kingston who was pre- sented with a certificate from the Dept. of Agricul- ture for her 15 years of Leadership. Friends of little Nichole McAllister are pleased to know she is home from Oshawa hospital after a bout with pneumonia. Mrs. Dolly Roberts spend- ing a few days with cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Way at Brampton. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Snoddon of Sunderland and Mr. and Mrs. Art Anness and family of Little Britain dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Art Fielding recently.
