LT ESUEOO FN NE Ringettes in close contests Both games end in ties by Judy Young Exciting is the only way to describe our games on Satur- day. In the first game Children's Boutique tied Young Dominion Hardware 7-7 with only seconds to go. _ Sherri Allen was just flying and scored all the goals for Children's. Boutique beauti- fully set up on two of them by Chriss Heurkins with single assists to Nancy Young, Debbie Warriner and Chris English. Absolutely out- standing and well deserving of our Ringette Sportsman- ship Award and sundae from the Dairy Bar was goalie Cindi Heurkins. The ability of the three goalies on each team never fails to amaze me. They are self-taught and they have learned their lessons well. Dominion Hardware start- ed behind and then ahead, then tied, then ahead until the final minutes with four goals going to Karen Young and one assist, two goals to Wendy McDougall, one to Sharon Ashmore with four assists and two assists to Bonny Burton. It was a very exciting game for spectators as well as participants. Game two was another cliffhanger with the final score between Country Vill- age and Dominion Hardware being five all. This time Dominion tied in the dying moments. Country Village played team all the way with three big goals and two assists scored by Barb Elliot, keep up the good work Barb, one -by- Janice Jack: man, Patsy Spears notched her very first goal applauded by everyone in Ringette, other assists were notched by Paula Haugen with 2 and Linda Warriner. Young Judy Treen was c¢hosen Sportsgirl of the week by the Denim. Machine. Judy is very effective in her defen- sive position through all out effort every week. Dominion were on their second game which didn't do a thing towards slowing them down. "Again the score see-saw'd the whole game with Karen Young scoring her fourth and tying goal in the dying minutes of the game. Sharon Ashmore scored a goal and assist and Bonny Burton assisted on one. Karen Young awarded the Sportsmanship Award by her team and will enjoy her sundae at the Dairy Bar. Karen loves Ringette, plays the game that way and her spirit is very infectious about it. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Kinette Club of Port Perry for their donation to cover the starting expenses for Port Perry Ringette. Lake Scugog Hockey League by J.
