Under. the very capable direction of Chairman Kinette Sandie Benns, the Seniors "were wined and dined and in general shown an evening of good food, fun and fellowship. During the social hour Blackstock by Bethany Schryburt prior to dinner the guests were treated to a "glance at the past", compliments of the Port Perry Star, who kindly brought copies of the local paper dating back as far as 1918. What a delight for some of our guests to read and remember, The Scout Hall was. deck- ed out in pots of Mums that were very graciously donat- ed for -the evening by Eleanor Woods, each- table was arrayed with Canadian Flags gifts from our M.P. Barr, and D. Gatchell. Tuesday after- noon ladies curling top point rink was 1 - M.- Bailey, D. Tobin, J. Russell and S. Holliday. Monday evening mens curling first draw, top point rink was 5 - D. Barr, F. Asselstine, N. McLaughlin and J. Goss. Second draw, top point rink was rink 11 - Tuesday evening mixed curling 7:00 draw, top point winners were Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaughlin and Mr. and Mrs. B. Love. The top point winners for the 8:30 draw were Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schryburt. Three couples from Ontario near weekend they competed at the Brook- lin Concrete Mixed Invita- tional Bonspiel in Port Perry on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Gathercole spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kyte. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown enjoy- ed staying with Mrs. Ivan Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bailey had the pleasure of hosting Mr. and Mrs. George MacMaster. Unfortunately Ivan Thompson was unable to join in the fun with the couples as he is in hospital in Oshawa; Mr. Brian Hamilton took his place on the ice for the Bonspiel. Norm Cafik. As each of the 80 honoured guests arrived they were presented with small provincial flag pins, a gift from our M.P.P. Bill Newman. Following the roast beef dinner, letters of greetings were read from Premier Davis and Mr. Newman. The Scugog Choral Society under the direction of Mrs. Grace Hastings brought the first Annual Heritage Day Dinner to a close with selec- tions from their recent hit area news Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hos- kin and Mr. and Mrs. Murray Byers returned home on Saturday from a joint trip, in Mr. Hoskin's camper, to the sunshine state of Florida. Mr. Rick Thompson after the recent sale of the house will continue to reside at his mother's east of Caesarea; where he was been living since his father's death'in December. _ On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bryans spent the day with his brother Mr. and Mrs. George Bryans and family. Saturday night Mr. and Mrs. Bob ' Bryans attended the 25th wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Sheehee in Fenelon Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Robert James Fletcher brought their new baby home on Friday (note please, this is not Bob and Pat Fletcher). During Heritage Week in Port Perry, 70 Senior Citi- zens 'were treated to the movie "Oh God!" at Mini Cinema, and 125 people took advantage of the free skating at the arena on Sunday. winners were: Isabele Wright - 1st, 95. 2nd - Edith Anderson, 86; 3rd - Belle Werry, 84; 4th - Flossy Ald- red, 81; 5th - Mertle Alsop, 80; 6th - Russell Larmer, Larry and Beth Schryburt joined a party of twenty 'at Pinewood Stables on Sunday for a horse drawn sleigh ride; four brave souls allow- ed themselves to be pulled by the sleigh on cross country skis holding ropes at the back. The party then enjoyed dinner at Emiels and a social time at Jim and Liane Colmers in the Robinglade sub-division near Seagrave. U.C.W. MEETING The U.C.W. general meet- ing was held on Wednesday morning, February 22 at 9:30 a.m. in the C.E. room at the United Church.
