Last week a team from the school attended the LOSSA curling playdowns and came home winners. They defeated Eastdale Collegiate, Henry St. School and Uxbridge in the finals to emerge victorious. The team will now compete in the COSSA playdowns, and if victorious they will avance to the All-Ontario finals. The winning team are pictured above. A second team from P.P.H.S. consisting of Elaine Elliott, Alison McNab, Lee Howsam and Vicky Fairman [last years All-Ontario Champs] curling in the LOSSA playdowns won second place in the competition. Atoms out of playoffs by Carol Wilbur On Monday, Feb. 27 the Malmont Farm Atoms host- ed Uxbridge in the 4 game of the best of seven series. The green machine seem- ed to be out of-gear as Uxbridge easily walked away with a 4-1' victory. Scoring Ports only goal was Tim Cannon with the assist going to Mike Dickson. Back to Uxbridge for the fifth game on Friday, March. 3, this was do or die for our boys. The Green Machine skat- ed hard and checked well but it was not to be as Uxbridge scored twice in the 2nd - period and Port replied only once in the third. Scoring for Port was Jeff Wray from Craig Menzies. Final score 2-1 for Uxbridge. John Moore and Paul Goreski shared the goaltending in both games. Larry Page, Steve Jones and Bill Dickson are to be congratulated for the work they have done with the Green Machine this year. ~+Tournaments will be com- ing up in" the spring break for the Malmont Farm boys to finish the year. Rockbrune 7 - Oshawa 4 First place Oshawa was upset in the first game by fourth-- place--Rockbriine. Oshawa took a 2-0 lead on- - by Vaughn Smith - goals from Gary Sherban and Dave McKee and Emery Coscérella scored from Peter Bathe. Dwayne Frat- tura then scored for Rock- - brune from Peter Taylor and Tom Taylor. Dave McKee scored Oshawa's third goal from Gary Sher- - ban. . Peter Taylor scored then for Rockbrune from Tom Taylor and Ron Moore. Gino Paxcuzzi then put Oshawa ahead by two from "Peter Bathe and Larry Bews. Then Rockbrune scored five - unanswered goals. Brian Grubb scored twice with assists going to Jon Dumphy, Chris Stocton and Tom Taylor with two. Danny Skelton scored from Tom Taylor and Brian Grubb. Then late in the third the same players combined with David Currins scoring from Jeff Stuart. Terry Malcolm _ picked up an short-handed goal from 'Vaughn McGill. Dean Jewell picked up the shut-out for Rethanv Port Perry Snowmobile Club banquet and dance On Saturday evening, March 4, members gathered at the Catholic Church Hall for our annual Banquet and Awards Dance. After an excellent hot dinner, Presi- dent Bill Harper and Special Events Chairman Paul Smith presented awards to those who have earned them during our past two Games Days. The test. of skill involved. a Bar- rel Race, Potato Race, Ob- sfhcle Course and a Passen- ger Pick-up Event. Awards were based on the number of points earned, depending . upon your position and since participants are racing only against the clock, it makes for lots of fun. Even if you're only a spectator.
