Their slogan this year is "Cancer can be beaten - what is it worth to you." To cancer patients in the Scugog area, the work of the local unit of the society is worth a great deal. 'Volunteer members fulfill a great many needs through a programme call- ed Service to Patients. One of the many services is -transportation to treatment centres. Free to the patient, this programme is paid for through the society's fund raising. Drugs and other treat- ments are vital to curing the disease, but the support and encouragement of others is also extremely important. The funds rais- ed by the Canadian Cancer Society are used in every facet of health care for cancer patients.
