Heron Several of our residents who are members of the Brooklin Horticulture Society assisted when the Society hosted the district 5 Ontario Horticulture Assoc- iation Annual, meeting on April 15. : Brooklin United Church Hall was beautifully decor- ated with potted - trees, plants, hanging baskets and four cages of live birds to carry out the theme of the meeting "Spring Song". The tables were set with gold cloths with centre pieces of daffodils and at each place favours of pot- pourri and pots of parsley created a colour scheme of green and yellow to herald spring. Over 100 delegates repre- senting the twenty-two societies within District 5 attended, each being pre- sented with a daffodil cor- sage as they registered. The ladies of Brooklin served a hot casserole luncheon. Miss Viola Gulion of Mount Albert was returned as District Director for the third year. There was a euchre in the community centre last Friday evening and enough people turned out for eleven and a half tables. Extra prizes were donated so 3 prizes went to Erma Wood, 'Nina Campbell and Beckie Young for the ladies. The mens prizes went to John Hopkins, George Middleton and im Lynde. Jean Johns- ton had the most lone hands and May Leask and Bill Gardner won the door prizes. Mertens spent a day in Oshawa recently. Mr. and Mrs. George Alli- son enjoyed a holiday return- ing from the south recently. Mr. A.C. Stephenson, Bow- manville, has been a patient in Memorial Hospital, Bow- manville. We hope he will soon be able to be home again. Bill lived several yeas in the village of Burke- ton. Former residents of the village, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Turnbull are visiting in Eng- land and The Islands. Mrs. D.P. Edwards, West- ern Ontario, is a patient in . Listowel hospital, sister of Mrs. R. Hopkins is home from the hospital but we are sorry Mr. Stanley Lynde is in Oshawa Hospital. We wish for all our sick people better health. Visitors with Miss Hilda Hopkins recently were Mrs. Irene Adlerson of Uxbridge, Mr. Jim Handley of Toronto, Mrs. Alice Peddy of Whitby, Mrs. R. Falkner, Mrs. C. Fiss and Mrs. E. Johnston of Glen Major. Mrs. Rachael Eeckhout has returned from her winter stay in Florida to her home here. Have 'a good day - Blow away any moody clouds and bring in a whole new light. Society received a cheque for $100 from Mrs. Stella Dennis. The money was the proceeds from the Blue Ray Chapter Daffodil Tea and Bazaar held at the Latcham Centre last Saturday.
