The "Head" U.C.W. will meet tonight at the home of Mrs) Irene Carter. Please don't forget to bring an item for the Hospital Auxiliary Spring Fair. Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., there' will be a Pot Luck Supper at the Island Church for the Senior Choir, Junior Choir and those taking part in the April concert along with parents, and husbands and wives of the Senior Choir. There will be Senior Choir practice afterwards. Please bring food for first and second course. At the Island Church on Sunday, attendance proved that the change of time had caught many unable to ad- just so quickly. However, Rev. Linstead had his cus- tomary meaningful story for the early risers. We were pleased to welcome Mrs. Wilma Johnson's parents. At a congregational meeting, following the service, it was decided to prepare for a Dedication .Service on Sun- day, May. 28. For this occasion donors to the Organ Fund and Memorial Book will be sent invitations to attend and take part. So please keep this date in mind. For Mother's Day, 2 or 3 families have already expressed a desire for bap- tism of their children. Don't forget to contact Rev. C. Clarke in good time. We send best wishes for a happy and satisfying holiday for Rev. and Mrs. Linstead as they speed away to Eng- land. Last week, Mrs. Noreen Leahy and Mrs. Hennie Jackson left for an extensive visit to England, Scotland and Wales. This last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Heayn and Julie came from their Haliburton home to help Joyce's mother, Mrs. Tetlow leave her Prince Albert apartment and get settled in the Emmerson apartments in Port Perry where Alvin's mother also lives. Last Monday evening several Island people decid- ed to have a chivaree in Prince Albert for the former Mrs. Mabel Graham "and Hugh Strong. They brought best wishes for their future _ happiness in their married life and spent a delightful evening together. Heartfelt sympathy is ex- tended to Mr. and Mrs. Rus- sel Pogue and their family for the Sunday morning bereavement of their son, Roy, in Vancouver. Roy attended school on the Island where he grew up. After a few years of construction experience, he went West and was able to build up a successful business. About a week ago, he developed a serious physical illness which could not be over- come. Now, we have notice of the Island Paper drive for Satur- WINTARIO TICKETS available at the Port Perry Star __day.morning, May 13. Please have your papers at the end of driveway by 9 aim. as several trucks will be out with Cubs and Scouts assist- ing. If you are unable to get them out, please phone Bill Bobbie. Of course, papers will continue to come to your home after the drive and these may be stock-piled through the summer for col- "lection at the end of summer. But, if you want them out of your way before pick-up day, you:may again contact Bill Bobbie. Next Sunday evening, May 7 at 8 p.m. at the Hall, there will be one of the frequent meetings of the leaders of the Scout movement. Any interested parents are wel- come to attend and learn about the finances, the activ- ities, the leadership and the organizations. } If you wish to keep track of JIsland activities you will just have to mark them on your calendars. Now that May is here, June will soon follow even if weather doesn't remind us. During winter months, the Community friendship group usually plans dances. Now they have a summer outing in the form of a picnic and hayride to the Provincial Park at the Foot of the Island for Saturday, June 24 at 3 p.m. This will be the second annual picnic where families get together for sports and a social time.
