Wednesday found 'our ladies attending the Fashion Show by Eaton's and lun- cheon in the Port Perry Unitéd Church sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of Scouting. This, I am told, was an enjoyable affair and very successful. Many thanks to the organizers, helpers and to those donating food. Saturday afternoon in our church, Miss Janet Abraham and Mr. David Gemmill ex- 'changed wedding vows. A reception followed in the brides home. Our congratul- ations and sincere best wishes go out to this young couple who plan to reside in Peterborough. The evening was spent in a game of progres- sive euchre from which Ros- etta" Stone took the ladies high and Ivan Barrett the men's high. Phyllis Wray and Sharon. Sténe were the low winners. Mr. Bert Wanamaker acted as master of ceremonies and after an appropriate reading, written by Mrs. Anne Clements, Bill and Rosetta were presented with a wall plaque and purse of money. A dainty lunch followed. Many thanks to Len and Betty for opening their home for this occasion. Sunday morning the Dis- trict Guiding Movement in- cluding Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers held a memorial service in honour ..of ..Lady--Baden-Powell"- in" Greenbank Church. - It was really heart warming to see our youngsters in uniform parade into Church and take part in the service. Energy Conger ation A public forum on a con- sumer approach to energy conservation will be held in the Town Hall Port Perry, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday May 12. The objective will be to form an '"'information exchange' for citizens who are interest- ed in improving the quality of the enviroment, reducing energy consumption, and saving on the cost of energy.
