Many records were broken and the twelve events were honoured with a first place winner in each of the five age groups. All of © the first place winners are eligible for the "Family of Schools Track Meet", which will be taking place today, &Vednesday May 31st on the Civic Field in Oshgdwa. The boys top point winner for their age group were: 10 and under - Tom Fowler-11 pt., llyears - Jerry Fowler-16 pt., 12 years - Dwayne Bryant- 16pt., 13 years - Bob Horton- 16pt., and 14 years - Roger Gould- 20 pt. For the %irls events the top point winners were: 10 and under - Teresa Buma and Tammy Armstrong- both 10 pt., 11 years - Angela Dickenson - 12 pt., 12 years - Rhonda White- 14 pt, 13 years - Sandra Johnston- 16 pt., and 14 years - Joyce Walker- 20 pt. The Senior Citizen's Card Party took place on Tues- day evening with 18 tables participating: 1- Ralph Day- 90, 2 - Olive Gimblett - 86, 3 - Elwood Tripp 85, 4 - Meta Swain - 82, 5 - Eunice Ego - 81, 6 - Ella Bowers - 81, and low Bessie Spencer. On Tuesday evening, the Girls of Sunrise entertained Joanne Mosher with dinner at the Bo-Peep in Oshawa where they presented her with a gold chain as a way of saying good-bye since the Mosher family is moving to Bowmanville. The community can be very proud of the extreme effort put forth by Shirley Turner as a Ranger leader. On Friday, May 26th, Shir- ley was presented with a marble paper weight, as an award for her outstanding contribution as a leader in connection with the Duke of Edinburough Awards. The award was presented by the Honourable Pauline McGib- bon, lieutenant governor of Ontario, at Queens Park in , Toronto. Shirley was one of ' the few leaders to receive 'an award out of -the 86 'awards presented at the Sil- ver-Duke of Edinborough A- wards Ceremony, on Fri- Andrew Petrie [left] struggles with his ceramic project, a new venture for day. Janet Parsons, as a member of the Ontario Gold Award. Society, performed the honoured duty of usher at the official ceremony. After the ceremonies a re- ception was held in the suite of the Lieutenant Gover- nor's where Mr. and Mrs. Roy Turner and their dau- ghter Janet, were present- ed to the Honorable Pauline McGibbon in an official re- ception line. Mr. and 'Mrs. Bruce Mountjoy, Bonnie and Gary, attended the graduation ex- ercises at the University of Waterloo, on Saturday May 27th, where Paul Mountjoy received his diploma with a degree, Bachelor of Science and Civil Engineering. Paul is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Mountjoy to graduate from Waterloo: Ray - 1969- Bachelor of Mathematics, and now works as a Pro- grammer with I.LB.M.; Gary - 1976- Bachelor of Mathe- matics, currently working as a programmer at Gene- ral Motors in Oshawa.
