We will miss them so much but do hope they will be happy and prosperous in their new work. Last Thursday, the kinder- garten, Grades 1 and 2 spent a wonderful day at Bow- manville Zoo. So Tuesday, this week, the remainder of the pupils from Epsom School will tour Metro Zoo. I ram sure this will be a very interesting and educational day. The 1st Scugog Cubs placed second at the Cubaree "at Greenbank last Saturday. The Couples Club met on Saturday evening and enjoyed a game of baseball, then played bingo and had several contests and games and lunch. This meeting was co-hosted by Kenneth and Beth Catherwood, Allen and Joan Clow. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Potter were Mr. Doug Arans of Brampton, Miss Anne Marie Mailhot, Miss Elaine Kelly of Toronto. Congratulations to Chris Potter who won the High Singles Bantam prize at the Bowling Banquet. Then on Saturday, Chris completed the Uxbridge Lions Bike-a- thon. : We were pleased to have Rev. J. Gibson occupy our pulpit on Sunday and to hear his very interesting and worthwhile message after the service. Walter Kerry made a presentation to Mr. Southgate on behalf of the congregation. We have been so pleased to have Mr. South- gate play the organ for the services for over a year-and- a-half. Money can't buy and words can't express ade- quately our appreciation. Mr. and Mrs. John Begin and Jeffrey visited his father at Presqu'ille point on Thursday. Mrs. Martin of Bowman- ville and Mrs. Begin attend- ed the funeral of Mr. Bill Martin of Sunderland. Then Mrs. Martin had supper with the Begins. Sunday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goslin were Mrs. Mildred Thomp- son, Mr. Baker of Utica, Mr. and Mrs. D. Park of Bow- manville. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Taylor were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Annis of Leaskdale. This was a large gathering of friends and relatives. Mrs. Shirley Pospolita of Calgary was a guest with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kerry for a couple of days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Powell and family attended a birthday party for her father, Mr. Harvey Ewen of Mount Albert. Many friends and relatives enjoyed the occasion. Congratulations to Mr. A. T. Powell on his recent birth- day. Dr. Montreal was able to get home for the day. The Bethesda-Reach W.I. met at the home of Mrs. B. DeBoer on Wednesday even- ing, May 24. We enjoyed our guest speaker very much. Miss Sheila Warne was so informative and answered the dozens of questions we asked her about her trip to Malaysia, where she lived in ~ the homes of the people. She brought beautiful pictures and handwork of the people and was dressed in the cos- tume of the country. Thank you, so much, Sheila. It was also decided to go to McMichael's Art Gallery at Kleinburg for our June meet- ing. Any member may bring a friend. We will go on our regular meeting day, May 28. More details later. Following th Ode and Mary Stewart Collect the president, Mrs. G. Heaslip welcomed all. She gave a short talk on the value of reading Home and Coun- try magazine and our Hand- book concluding with words of wisdom gleaned from Home and Country. Our secretary, Mrs M. Firlit read the minutes, cor- respondence and gave the financial report. A note of appreciation was received from Debby Lee for the gift from the Institute on receiv- ing 4H County Honors. An Executive Evening is planned for 1.0.0.F. Hall, Orono on May 11 at 8 P.M. An invitation was received from Honeydale Institute for Thursday, May 11 at 2 P.M. Several ladies plan to -- attend. Honeydale is also sponsoring a bus trip to Adelaide Hoodless Institute and Erland Lee Homes on June 5. If interested please contact president, Mrs. G. Heaslip. The meeting concluded with O Canada and the Insti- tute Grace. A delicious lunch was served by the Officers and a Social time enjoyed. The appreciation was expressed by Mrs. R. Davidson. As we begin another year it is fitting to express our thanks to the local papers for publishing an account of our meetings each month.
