A eR RE Se eT WARD 2 It will be a two-man race for the seat in Port Perry, Ward 2, the most heavily populated ward in the Town- ship. Incumbent Richard Drew is seeking his second term on council and he faces opposi- tion Ivan Parkinson, a re- tired school teacher. WARD3 This is the Scugog Island ward presently held by Jerry Taylor, who is giving up his council seat to run for Mayor. There are three candidates for the Ward 3 seat on council, Charlie Foote; a retired businessman; John Williams, who has been active in the Scugog Cham- ber of Commerce; and present Chamber. of Com- merce president Cliff Crowell. WARD 4 Cartwright councillor Neil McLaughlin will be seeking a second term as representa- tive from Ward 4 and he will be opposed at the polls by dairy farmer John Wolters. The 18 candidates seeking election this time around is just one short of the number who threw their hats into the political ring in the 1976 municipal elections. Township clerk Doreen Van Camp says there are 11,173 persons eligible to cast ballots in the elections this year, but of this number nearly 3000 are non-residents outside the Township. That leaves 8,218 residents in Scugog, and the 18 candi- dates will no doubt be trying to reach each one of them at least once during the three week campaign prior to voting day November 13.
