Nearly 700 spectators braved the bitter cold on Lake Scugog Sunday after- noon as 133 drivers were entered in the annual Port Perry Snowmobile Club Drag Races.' In all there were 232 entries as drivers matched their machines in numerous - different classes. The following is a list of the results submitted by the Port Perry Snowmobile Club. This was a common site as competitors worked on their machines to insure peak racing condition. Scoring for Sportsland was John David Rodway with all three goals. Neil Mark and Brent McMillan got. one assist each. Scugog's only goal was scored by Bob Bryan assisted by Blair Bailey. Kinsmen Club - 2 Reliable Plumbing - 3 This was a very exciting game with no penalties. Trevor Solomon, Steve Hammill, and Andrew Steele scored for Reliable. Picking up goals for Kinsmen Club were Paul Wanamaker and John Nottingham. Darin Scala got two assists while Jeff Mills got one. ATOMS Tripp Realty - 1 Swamp Garage - 7 This was a wide open game with no penalties. Scoring for Swamp was Brad McNenly with five goals and Jeff Haugen and Drew Bal- Juveniles Continued with end to end play then at the 4:04 mark of the third period Scott Wilbur scored assisted by Dave Canning and Mike Geer. With 53 seconds left to play Uxbridge scored to take the game into overtime. Neither team was able to score in this 10 minute en- counter with both teams having several chances to win. Therefore each team has 1 point. The next game is Tuesday, February 6 in Ux- bridge at 9:00 while the next home game is Thursday, February 8 at 9:30 p.m. Support the Juveniles. lingal with one each. MIDGET Peterborough Lumber vs. Purple Hill Farm -In- the only game played Saturday Peterborough Lumber defeated Purple Hill Farm 6 to 3. Scoring for the winners were Tim Bower 3 goals and one assist, John Butler with 1 goal and 3 assists, Mike Gundry with 1 goal and 1 assist, Todd Healey with 1 goal and 1 assist and Jeff Robinson and Gerald Lee with 2 assists each. Scoring for Purple Hill | were John Spears with 2 and Tim Cochrane. Broomball scores by Charlie Brown C&B-4 Troski's - 0 Well C & B did it again by out powering the Troski team. Keith Fraser picked up a shut out. Single goals went to Don Phinney, Rob Evans, Ken Fraser, and Bill Woodrow. Single assists went to Rob Evans, Bill Owen, Ken Bryan and Harvey Parrinder. Utica -2 Brians -1 Utica barely won this game as the game was very close. Brian's opened the scoring in the second period by Finley Peeters assisted by Keven Marten and Dave Lane. Later in the second period Utica scored two goals by Phil Kenton un- assisted and Mike Mitchell unassisted. Beacock's - 1 Larocque - 1 This was a hard hitting, close game. Both teams were evenly matched. Beacock's goal was scored by Keith Dalton assisted by Tim Ashbridge and Tom Wotten. Larocque gp4l was scored by Kopie DeJong assisted by Bill Bridge. Of course, if the snow persists, that time may be shorter than we think. P.P.H.S.'s annual winter carnival will take place this Friday. Events will include tug of war, cross country ski race, chariot race, nail driving contest and the snow sculpturing competition. Be sure to sign up and join in on the fun. New events this year will be the choosing of the snow Queen, King and Prince and Princess. Elec- tions will take place in home rooms this week and the winners will be announced on Friday. To wind up the days activi- ties, there will be a dance featuring M.G.'s disco. Doors will open from 8:00 to 9:00 and all activity card holders will be admitted free. (Everyone else will be charged $1.50.) Once again this year, carnations will be sold for Valentine's day. Order yours this week and send it "via cupid" to a special triend. Cards may accom- pany the flowers, or they can be sent. anonymously. Basketball action last week saw a tight game between our Port High Seniors and G.L. Roberts. The score ended after over- time in a close one point lead for Port. The midgets also played against the same school, and lost by a mere 5 points. The next game will take place on Wednesday (today) at Central. Don't forget 'Free Beer' at P.P.H.S. on February 21. Pee Wee All Stars Continued counted over until the buzzer rang as both teams fought to the bitter end. As a result they ended the game at 6 to 6. Scoring for the Legionaires was Jeff Johnstone (2), Ray Meisner, Darren Desautels, Brian Stevenson and David Kemp. Assists went to Vaughan McKee (2), Jeff Johnstone (2), Steven Lee and Brian Stevenson. The Legionaires travel to Uxbridge on Friday, Feb. 9 for the third game of their play off series.
