MoJacks began to sag badly as the Eagles pressed and took advantage of numerous errors in the Port Perry end of therink. By the end of the second period the score was 8-4. The shots on goal in that period were 13-4 in favour of the Eagles, which was a fair represen- tation of the margin in play. In the third period, the game degenerated into a chippy little affair with a series of double minors as players from both clubs were carrying. their sticks high. At the 15-minute mark, MoJacks captain Steve Jones and Gary Nemisz squared off and got five minute majors for their troubles, while Mark /Jo and Eagle captain [Bria Simpson also tangled at the ) same time deep in the\Port \ Perry end. They both" got major misconducts for the: efforts and an early trip to the showers. In total there were minutes in penalties called in the third period, and as fans started to crowd around Port Perry players in the penalty box, game officials called for the Durham Region Police, fearing that things might get severely 'out of hand. However, the game ended without serious incident with the MoJacks on the tail end of the 104 score. Just why the MoJacks seem to get shell-shocked the minute they step on the ice in the opposition rink remains a mystery. Going back to the quarter finals with Lindsay Muskies, the MoJacks have lost four games on the road, all by lop-sided scores. In fact, in those four losses, MoJacks have given up 48 goals, while managing to score just 13. At home last Saturday night, the MoJacks didn't look like the same team as they got a solid goal-tending performance from Bill Cheetham and a pair of goals from both Mark Jobb and Gorde Hintze, : Hintze scored the eventual winner at 6:37 of the third period on a neat pass from Rob Greiner + with the MoJacks on a power play. the last two games as Ray C 'MoJacks Saturday Late in the third Rob Evans added an insurance marker as he took a pass from Mark Jobb and hit from the short side. Phil Cochrane had tied the score late in the second period on a pass from Brad Nicholson. In that second game, MoJacks stuck to hockey throughout, taking just 18 minutes in penaities to 20 for the Eagles. While Bowmanville on the strength of their first place finish in the regular season has to be considered the favourite in this series and certainly had little trouble with the MoJacks during the two games in Bowmanville, the MoJacks proved on Saturday night that they are capable of beating the Eagles by cutting off their potent offense. If the series follows the same pattern, MoJacks should win the fourth game at the Scugog Arena this coming Saturday and force a deciding game back in the Eagles Nest. . and Barry and Cheryl Timbers. i -- ou PERRY STAR -- Wed., February 28, 1979 -- 23 ts of action for Ringette by Doreen Kendall Three games to report this week.
