We think most Island residents have returned from their winter vacations in Florida. Glen and Carol Wilson with their 3 children had a very happy 16 days vacation when they travelled as far as Orlando and of course, Disney World, Daytona, St. Petersburg, and Tampa as well as visiting Doris and Murray Wilson and others. Jerry and Linda LeRoy with their 3 children from Fralick's Beach were not quite so forturtate. After a happy time at Orlando and Disney World, they decided to make the return trip' home. Their van was struck by an approaching driver who fell asleep, causing destruction to the van and many stitches and first aid for the LeRoys. During the three hour period before they were able to resume their Trial date set June 5 has been set as trial date in the case of a Durham Regional constable charged with asssaulting a- Port Perry man while an arrest was being made. The charge was laid by Steve Jones, 20, of R.R.2 Port Perry, who claimed he was beaten after being picked up on an impaired driving charge March 1. A Crown Attorney and judge from outside the region will be brought in to handle the case. Charged with common assault is Constable Stuart Giffen. journey in a rented car as far as Detroit, they were very much impressed with the care and concern of the staff and executives of the Catholic Hospital where they 'received help. Though it was an unforgetable and uncom- fortable experience, we are glad it was no worse. Clarence Carter went to a Toronto Hosp. on Sat. for further tests. Mrs. Harold Forder was confined to her bed last week in order to recover from painful phlebitis. It was nice to see John Sweetman in circulation on the weekend as he was able to drive the car to the Port Perry Plaza and chat with friends and acquaintances. Mrs. Amy Smith has been in her Island home at Gerrow's Beach with her daughter caring for her. Today she returns to Toronto for a few more days of treatment. Before her daughter returns to her home, she is anxious to get a lady to live in with Amy for awhile until health returns. So if you know of an interes- ted person, it would be very helpful to let us know. 'Mrs. Barbara Brown is recovering very well after Robert Coates, Al Lawrence and Walter Baker at the Durham-Northumber- land P.C. Association annual meeting in Blackstock last week.
