We only have one Mosquito team who will be playing every Thursday either at the High School or Oshawa. The Pee-Wees have made up two teams and will be playing every Wednesday at the High School again against Oshawa. On Wednesday, June 7 they were nipped 5-3 by Kedron and four days later were dusted 13-0 by Pontypool. Port Perry did not have enough regulars for the Pon- typool game because the six juniors on the club were competing in an Oshawa tournament. Five starters were playing in unfamiliar positions, including one play- er who had never played for them before. Nine players showed up, leaving coach Doug Scott with no bench strength. Several players present were slightly critical of their team-mates who could have appeared but failed to. Scott called the game the worst beating that Port has taken in two years. Brent Fallis was the winn- ing pitcher for the Generals as he went the full nine innings and surrendered eight hits and struck out eight. Kevin Walker went the distance for the other side, allowing 17 hits and retiring five on strikes. He was victimized by seven err- ors behind him. The key blow of the contest was Fallis' grand slam home run to left center field in the first inning. Two of the runners on base had reached there on errors. The game against Kedron was more of a contest as it was a see-saw battle. Ked- ron opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first but Port replied with two in the second. Two Kedron runners counted in the fourth but Port tied it in the fifth. Kedron got the winning runs in the top of the sixth frame. For three innings Port Perry starting righthander Walker pitched well before allowing a fourth inning leadoff single to Doug Wil- ber. Bob Moore followed with a double down the third base line. Moore scored to go ahead run when catcher Mike Healy lost the ball in the backstop. In the bottom of the fourth session Walker was robbed of a base hit when second baseman Bruce McDonald speared his line drive. Bob Talbot was the winn- ing hurler for Kedron, Walk- er the Port loser. Port Perry competes in an Oshawa tournament on the weekend but their Wednes- day night home game against Yelverton is not affected.
