President Mrs. L Malcolm AL GRADUATION Cheryl Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Lloyd Wright, Blackstock, gradu- ated on the Dean's Honour List from the University of Western Ontario, Lon- don, with a Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders on June 8, 1979. Cheryl also won an award for Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Achievement. She has accepted a position as speech therapist at Prince Edward Heights in Picton. Scugog Chamber of Commerce DINNER MEETING welcomed twelve ladies and opened the meeting with a poem "Wanted. Hymn "Day is Dying in the West" was sung. A splendid Devotional and Study Topic was given by Mrs. A. Williams. Assisting . her were Mrs. D. Frew and Mrs. B. Heaslip. Mrs. A. Williams chose for the Study Topic - The History of Religion in Canada. We were favoured with a solo from Miss Marlene Par- sons entitled "Somebody Bigger than You and I". The Roll-Call - "An inter- esting religious custom" was well answered. Business items included an interesting report from Mrs. G. Fish showing a worth- while return from our Spring Supper. Our Secretary, Mrs. D. Frew, read the minutes and the correspondence. Plans were made to cater to a wedding in September. A donation will be sent to the Bursary Fund from Nestleton U.C.W. Mrs..G. Fish will plan to represent Nestleton at the Leadership Training School to be held jn Peterborough in September. will be Miss G. Malcolm. The Church Picnic will be Louise Patterson guild discuss show location by Beryl Espley The June meeting of the Guild was held in the Presby- terian Church Hall 'on Wednesday, June 13th at 12 noon. The members had a great pot luck lunch before they got down to business. The main interest seemed to be the show that was held at the Latcham Centre on June 2nd. No final decisions were made but there were several ideas to be mulled over before the new session starts in September. The show might be moved to a different location where there is a possibility for things to be hung on the walls. It is not easy to display pictures to their best advantage at the Latcham Centre. There was also the comment that visitors were disappointed that there was no Christmas table this year. A bus trip is being or- ganized for Saturday, September 22nd. The members are going to the Simcoe County Museum near Barrie. The quilters of the Simcoe area are holding their show that weekend but there is a great deal of other things to see for those who are not that keen on quilting. This trip is being subsidised by the Guild so that all members as of June are welcome. Only a major calamity could prevent the trip from taking place. It was suggested that the Guild should hold more workshops so that there is more time to learn the crafts...'..so bring your ideas to the September meeting. The meeting adjourned - about three in the afternoon. Cedar Creek by George Kilpatrick Mr. and Mrs. Donald Thomas had a yard and garage sale recently. Robert Lawrence of Oshawa visited his cousin, Steve Cummings, last week. Mary and Liz Baxter left on Thursday for a trip to western Canada. They will be away a month. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Arm- strong, Brenda and Brian visited Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kerr at Campbellford and Mr. and Mrs. Bolton Armstrong at Warkworth on Sunday. Mrs. Reta Barton of Hamilton visited her sister, Mrs. Victor Larocque on Sunday. Adam Cummings of Caesarea was a weekend visitor with his grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cummings. They were enjoyed by all. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess, Mrs. V. Parsons, assisted by Mrs. A. Williams. "Mrs. G. The classes have been specially designed for small groups in an informal environment. In Durham North there are two tutoring centres, one in Port Perry and the other in Uxbridge.
