9 Elected District Governor Lorne Scanlon " Lorne Scanlon, a member of the Port Perry Kinsmen Club was elected to the posi- tion of Governor of District 8 recently at the annual dis- trict convention held in North Bay. Over 800 Kinsmen and Kin- ettes attended the annual convention with about 10 couples from the local club present. District Governor is the top position which Kin Lorne can attain in District 8, and his next step would be to run for the National Vice Presi- dent when he completes his term as Governor. Senior Citizens news The Senior Citizens Club 101 has been extremely ac- tive in the last six weeks or SO. Our square dancers put on a lovely programme both old time and modern at our meeting when we entertain- ed Uxbridge Senior Citizens. With our own club, Latcham Center was filled to capacity. Friday night that week we also entertained the Com- munity Nursing Home with dancing a little skit 'Her first Biscuits" by Lloyd and Marion King, calling off the square dancers Everett Prentice, Edna Beckett and Mr. and Mrs. Snelgrove and Mr. and Mrs. Freeman pro- viding music. Many thanks to Doris Grierson our leader and Grant Bright the Presi- dent of the -square dance club. To finish our year we had a little party with cake and ice cream for the square dancers. The whole Senior Citizen group had a picnic on Wednesday, July 11 with a good attendance. We had 'the pleasure of hearing Jeanette de Suza, Dear- borne's granddaughter and it was lovely. She played twice for us. The Pro- gramme Committee (5 women, 1 man) put on about 17 games plus an old fash- ioned spelling bee of which Mariori Rowland and Mil Hele were outstanding spell- ers. Ethel Robertson and Win Philp had charge of giving the words. A lovely pot-luck supper followed and a very success- ful picnic and year came to a close. Belated birthday wishes are extended to Mrs. Pears- on and Mr. Cecil Leask who celebrated their birthdays at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morley Raines. Mr. and Mrs. McCartney have moved into the former Dickson home. We do wel- come them to Greenbank. Mrs. Marjory Beaton visit- ed with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beaton at their cottage in Burn river this last week- end. Mr. and Mrs. Andy David- son of Crystal Lake called on Mr. and Mrs. Ray Leask this week. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Len Jarvis are Mr. and Mrs. Don Jarvis of Monetville. They all motored on Saturday to the Jarvis-Zimmerman wed- ding in the Fort Erie United Church. Overseas visitors to Greenbank are Mr. and Mrs. Victor Boros and Mr. Harry Boros of Vienna, Austria who are spending holidays with Mr. and Mrs. George Ryz- any. Mrs. G.
