PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, August 8, 1979 -- 31 Seagrave and area news items by Marilyn Beacock For the cottagers and the 4 camping crowd the past few weeks have been absolutely super! The humidity is a trifle stifling at times but the best thing I've found to cure that is to imagine yourself trying to shovel all that mound of snow out of your driveway next winter. It doesn't change the humidity but it sure does make one thankful that winter is still a few months away. Enid and Murdock Belair # have just returned from vis- iting their close friends Mr. and Mrs. Richard McAllister for a few days this past week. The McAllisters are presently residing at Placid Bay Lodge on Boyce Lake which is located about 51 railroad miles north of North Bay. Accompanying the Belairs were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor and boys of Scugog Island. From all re- ports' the blueberry crop in that area this year was tremendous and the fish were biting pretty good too! Last weekend the Don Bea-" cock's along with Mr. and Mrs. Tindall of Sandford enjoyed the weekend visiting various points of interest in south western Ontario. Playground is eventually drawing to a close. The kids have enjoyed doing many things according to the ex- pressions on their faces. This last week we will be accomplishing a variety of things. Tuesday we will be doing many arts and crafts in preparation for the Penny Carnival. On Wednesday we'll be going to the Bow- manville Zoo all day. The price will be .75 cents per person. The bus fare is 25 cents and we ask that the children bring their lunches for the day. There are two rides for 35 cents. For the whole day we suggest they bring about $1.50 each. On Thursday we will be visiting the Fire Department in Port Perry. These children also may be going rollerskating that morning about 10:30. We are also organizing for the Dress-up Box. Most of the children are donatirig old discarded clothing to be used for this purpose. On Friday, august 10 in the morning the children will be going to a party and in the afternoon from 3:00-5:00 p.m. all the playground groups will be holding a Penny Carnival to raise money for equipment for next year. We'll be having bubble gum contests, ring toss, bean bag throw, etc. and prizes will be award- ed. It should be a fun time for everyone, so please join in and bring a friend or two along. This will be held at the Latchem Centre. We sincerely hope this event will be memorable one for the kids. Many thanks to Carol Lane and Mary Rose for contribut- ing this up-date on things to come at our Playground 79 program. These gals have done a spectacular job of organizing and entertaining these little folk this summer. Congratulations on a job well done girls!
