The early popular fall Fair all added to a great success - the public responded well with a fine attendance. Many items of interest shared the spotlight - the Directors were geared up for an excellent Fair and were not disappointed. Going through the buildings we noted quite a number from Cartwright won coveted prizes on their entries. Congratulations! to the hard working Fair Board re- a, splendid event, and to all the winners. Barbecue Enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. Balfour Moore of Spring Water Trailer Park, Nestleton, held their 3rd annual Pork Barbecue over the weekend. They served 125 adults and 80 children. After a delicious meal; campers went around and canvassed for the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy collecting the- sizeable sum of $168.00. The Moores will soon be closing the Park for the season but will be there weekends until Thanks- giving. T.V. Programme For those who have missed this programme - this Thurs- day evening at 9 p.m. Channel 9, presents the last in a 4-part series entitled 'Being Human". Virginia Fortune, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fortune, Nestleton, changes from Ape to Human in the introduction of the show. Tune in early as it lasts just 30 seconds. Many who saw the show last week felt it had a great deal of Educational value. An unusual production and a very interesting hour for T.V. viewers. Caearea Euchre The results of the card game held last Wednesday evening are as follows: 1st - Tom Robertson, 2nd - Betty Ringham, 3rd - Della Bush. Fall is just around the corner, summer has just about run its course when the children, are back to school and the Ladies of Caesarea Auxiliary hope for an ex- cellent attendance soon now. Have a leisurely game of cards next Wedhesday evening at 8 p.m. at the Community Centre. North Nestleton Church In the United Church on Sunday morning Rev. Victor Parsons chose as his message theme '"'Honour- able Employment", reading Bible passages James 2 verses 14-24, Matthew 25 ver. 14-29. Mrs. L. Malcolm presided at the organ, and Mr. Norman Mairs took the offering. Visitors are welcome. Social News of Interest Gail and Laurie Malcolm were in Perth, visiting with sister' Bonnie and brother-in- law Jim Belton and family for a few days this past week - Monday to Thursday and enjoyed the trip very much. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm and Laurie of Nestleton attended the Canadian National Exhibi- tion on Saturday, and had a most interesting time. Mr. Bruce Heaslip was home for Friday evening supper and Mrs. Ed. Lawson was a guest with Bruce and Olive. On Sunday afternoon and evening Olive's sister and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Weylie McKeown of Caledon East, and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Blackstock News (From page 8) Roxanne Larmer spent a week with-her uncle Mr. and Mrs. Ray Larmer and family at Pickering. Prior to this Danielle Larmer of Picker- ing had spent a week with her Cartwright cousins. Nursery School News The first general meeting of the 1979-80 school year was held on Tuesday, August 28. There were thirty-five mem- bers present. Louise Swain reported on the proceeds from the Concession booth at the Tractor Pull, shared with the Blackstock U.C.W. Ex- tra money was also made by selling souvenir buttons at the Blackstock Fair. Cathy White was thanked for arranging for the float in the Blackstock Fair Parade and getting it decorated. We won second prize-$10. We apprec- iate the assistance given by Jim Coates, Wallace Marlow Robin Boyce, Kevin Rollo and Mary Mackie. Julie Bryant and Heather Locke also helped the Nursery School by preparing the dis- play of childrens art at the fair. Plans are well underway for the fund raising dance and bazaar on November 10. The bazaar will feature crafts tables, white elephant table, used toys, plants, homebaking and preserves, a raffle for a leather purse and a Deli Corner. There are still a few vac- ant spots in the Nursery McKeown were guests. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cawker of Scarborough visited with the Cawkers at the farm on Sunday and attended the fair in Port Perry, reporting a splendid time. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Cawker, Chris, Curtis, Cathy and a friend Jeff Armstrong of Oshawa, went to the fair on Monday and were supper guests at the farm, on Scugog Point Road. "Warmest Wishes' to those in Hospital. A speedy recovery to one and all! "Sincere Sympathy" is extended to the family and the many friends of the late Mr. Wilbert Malcolm, of Yelverton. Quite a number of local exhibitors and fair followers attended Kinmount Fair on the weekend and participat- ed in the events which they regularly follow. Of course our neighbouring fair at Port Perry continued in its fine fashion on Sunday and Monday. Many, many Blackstock folk attended and enjoyed the various events there as well.
