by Ellen Buller For all you guys who are wondering who those two cute French girls are, read on. Their names are Johanne Fontaine and Carole Hamelin, from Repentiny, Quebec. These 2 energetic girls have been at Port Perry High School for three months now and are on their way home this Friday. During their stay here they attended regular classes which included grade 13 French and history, grade 11 physics and grade 12 English math and phys. ed, and to top it off, all their classes (ex- cluding French) are taught in English, a language that they are now just beginning to master. As soon as they stepped off the bus, they were greeted with open arms and open doors by Marg Litt, Lorna Jones, and their families. Of course it was hard at first, but as girls will, they began talking a mile a minute and soon became friends. The major difference they found between Repentiny and Port Perry High Schools was the size. Repentiny has 2,000 students where as Port Perry has only 1.000. All of Marg's and Lorna's friends accepted Johanne and Carole right away. Marg, an only girl from an originally big family, found it quite refreshing and re- assuring to have another girl around home. Mr. and Mrs. Litt were glad to have Johanne stay with them because it filled the house with warm laughter. Thank you to the people around Port who tried to make Johanne's and Carole's stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Both Johanne and Carole said that the teachers in Port High School were more than helpful. Whenever they were puzzled or confused the teachers gave them a help- ing hand with English and grammar. The hardest thing for Johanne and Carole was the difference in their parents to those of Marg and Lorna. Of course, they both missed all their freinds and family in Repentiny and are looking forward to going home, but ATTENTION: Wood Burners A CHIMNEY LINED WITH SOOT AND CREOSOTE CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS CHIMNEY FIRES WHICH COULD DESTROY YOUR HOME! The hardest thing for Marg and Lorna must have been when there were 2 of them and had to plan their week- ends accordingly. We're going to hate to see you go, girls, but keep in touch with all your new made friends, and good luck in the future. I hope everyone watched "New Faces" in Port Perry on Sunday night. I'd like to congratulate Lea Dowson a grade eleven student in Port High and everyone else who performed. Lea, for those who didn't see the show which was aired' Sunday Dec. 2 on Channel 11 sang a PORT PERRY STAR CHRISTMAS solo and I must say repre- sented Port Perry with excellence. On Friday suckers were sold to support the year book. As you probably real- ize, prices are going up all the time and instead of pass- ing these crazy prices, we sell suckers to our students. The small profits are donat- ed to yearbook usage. The girls' junior basket- ball team finally met their match at O'Neil during COSSA. As [1 predicted earlier, you girls did go far and all of Port Perry High School would like to commend you for being good sports during competition. Just wait until next year!
