Heron A delicious pot luck supper was enjoyed last Wednesday evening at the Brooklin Horticultural Christmas meeting which several from Ashburn are members. Christmas carols were sung and the awards were given for the years prize winners. Also a gift was presented to the outgoing president Mr. John Jeffrey, Atom Selects tie, lose by Doreen Kendall The Don Forder Insurance Atom Selects played back to back games with the Little N.H.L. Canadians and managed to eek out 1 tie and a loss. Both teams were fairly evenly matched but the Canadians came out with one win, due largely I feel to a better passing game. Saturday, Dec. 1st, both teams gave an all out effort end to end all the way, the final whistle saw a two -two tie. Scoring for Port saw Mark Barkey and Robbie Brown both pick up unassist- ed markers. No penalties were assessed. Sunday the Forder Selects journeyed to Hampton for the return game. The Canadians caught Port short with two quick goals in the first period and the Selects were forced to play catch up hockey all the way but could never quite make it. Final score 3-2 Canadians. Last Sunday at Burns Church was the first Sunday in Advent. The Advent wreath candle of Hope was lit by Mrs. Wm. Gardner and a banner of hope was pres- ented and hung. The banner was made by Miss Ruth Olivers class in the Church School and was brought forth by the class. Master Bradley Batten was chosen to climb the ladder and hang the banner. Rev. McEntyre's message was from Matthew 12th chapter *'Signs of Hope". The sacrement of the Lord's supper was observed. Dec. 16th will be White Gift Sunday and there will be the annual Christmas eve serv- ice in the Church.
