McEnan- ey set up the first one, by Ken Geer. Defenceman Tim Ashbridge got his first of two assists on McEnaney"s goal. Mike Mole's shot eluded goaltender Bill Gerber in the dying seconds of a period dominated by Utica. Utica went ahead 4-0 early in the second period when Mike Mitchell had a shot tipped in off the broom of a teammate at 4:53. Gerber was injured with 4:30 to go in the frame and had to be replaced by Hugh Yake. Yake played well for the remainder of the match. Last place Brians Towing shutout Blackstock 2-0 in the second game. Brians took the lead 30 seconds after the first whistle on a shot by Paul Christie. Centre Bill Peeters set up the play. Brians nearly had another goal but Cordell Kuening made a fine defensive play to Midgets battle Lindsay to 6-6 draw by Danny Millar Port Perry Midget A hockey team, sponsored by Grant Menzies, tied Lindsay 6-6 in an exciting game on Monday, December 3. Cap- tain Doug Potts scored two goals for the Pacers while Gord Corneil had a hat trick for Lindsay. - Lindsay received a charging penalty ten seconds into the game and Port Perry got a power play goal six seconds later. The play came right off the face-off in the Lindsay zone. Chris Neale tied the score just over a minute later when he took a pass from the corner and slipped it behind goalkeeper Robert Frans- sen. Lindsay went ahead at 4:51 on Corneil's first goal. Corneil went around defenceman Mark Jeffrey and deked Franssen down. Steve Henley drew his second assist. He would finish with three and add a goal. Bantam B submerged by Danny Millar Beaverton made it an even dozen when they hammered the Port Perry Canadian Tire Bantam B hockey team 12-0 on Wed., December 5. Chris McRae put on a near flawless performance as he scored five goals and five assists. McRae scored three straight goals in the secend period. The first one came on a long slap shot from the corner at 2:47. Goaltender Doug Arscott, who had replaced Paul Kingston in the first period, slammed his stick down in obvious frus- tration. That score gave Beaverton a 6-0 advantage after first period goals by McRae, Chris Harrington twice, Ross Mitchell and Dave Morrisson. Harrington added another two assists later. Mitchell chipped in another goal and added two assists. The most picturesque goal of the evening came when McRae concluded a rink long rush with a beautiful deke on Arscott at 6:20. David Kemp, who had been playing on the Bantam A team earlier in the year; was the best Port Perry player on the ice. He had a couple of good scoring chances. Port Perry's best chance to get on the board came with 9:07 left in the second period when Beaverton's McRae was given a high sticking penalty. It forced the visitors to play two men less for 31 seconds. They killed it off with no problems. Paul Fisher, Mitchell, Rick Wilton, and McRae added third period goals. So are Bantam A's by Danny Millar Four goals in the second period of hockey action enabled the visiting Lindsay Bantam 1 team to defeat Port Perry Beare Motors on Wednesday, December 5. Port Perry played a strong opening 15 minutes after which they led 2-1 on goals by Jamie Lane. marker came at 2:37 as he shoved a Kevin Ferguson rebound under goaltender Ron Hall. Jeff Johnstone picked up the other assist. Lindsay tied the game 4:01 later when defenceman Paul Brown uncorked a slap shot that Jerry Jackman stopped. Darrin MacDuff cruised in from the left side to shoot in the rebound. Port Perry went ahead for Lane's first the last time in the game with 28 seconds to go when Lane forechecked the puck off Brown's stick in front of the Lindsay net. The even first period was followed by a lopsided second frame. Lindsay gave evidence of a good offensive set in the Port Perry end by scoring four times in six minutes. The four tallies were enough to ensure Lind- say's second win over Port Perry this year. Ken Fairman picked up a loose puck and fired it passed Jackman to tie the game for the second time. Jackman has combined with Ken Harmon to give Port solid netminding this season. It has been a bright spot on a team with two wins. The Fairman shot was followed by scores from David Martin, Garry Howell, and MacDuff to finalize the period's scoring. Donnie Young and Russ Jones had good scoring opportunities in the final period but could not manage to bring their squad closer. On Young's chance Steve Lee was shaken up slightly when he slammed into the boards after a two on one break. Fairman got his second goal of the evening 1:47 into the final period after he received a pass down the right wing from Mark Durbin. The time of the goal shown on the scoreboard at the end of the rink was 13:13. Superstitious? Bethany whips Port by 9-0 by Danny Millar Port Perry suffered their second consecutive one- sided setback when they were pounded 8-0 by the Bethany MoHawks on Sunday, December 9 in Lake Scugog Hockey League play. Last week they were humbled 11-0 by Oshawa. Jim Abercrombie paced the MoHawks with a three goal hattrick and two assists. Dale Jewell added three assists. The first period was quite close as a lot of the play was in the Bethany end but the Hawks came away with two goals. Gary Weightman got the first one and Pat Lynch banged home the second goal on a blue line slap shot. Abercrombie opened the second period with his first goal and Bethany went up 4-0 on John Burns' goal at 3:06. Burns banged in a rebound passed Phil Stasinsky after a shot from the point. Stasin- sky was not sharp for the second game in a row. Earlier in the season he was very tough to beat. At 5:20 of the middle session Pierre Le berge of Port Perry and Burns got into a scrap that got both men thrown out of the game. It was the first of two tussles as Ken Jeffrey and MoHawk Terry Lavereau wrestled late in the game. The match marked the return of Doug Scott to the Port Perry blue line. Scott teamed with Mike Adam and Tom Taylor and played adequately defensively. Scott played last year but had resigned himself to coaching for this season. Larry Wark handled chores behind the bench. Bethany went into the final period ahead 6-0 but were not satisfied with that margin 5:23 into the frame Aber: crombie pocketed a pass from behind the net and the: got another on a rebound eight minutes later A cross rink pass between defencemen Jeffrey and Todd Blayone that found its way onto Pott's stick set up the tying goal. Potts back- handed the puck past Marty- Rhodes. Joe Williams put Port Perry ahead when he fought off two opponents for the puck and they popped it under Rhodes. The second period was shortened to ten minutes but it was long enough for Lind- say to score two goals, both by Corneil. Corneil and Henley scored in the final period. Blayone, Potts, and Mark Andrews scored in the last 15 minutes to salvage the tie. Port Perry was aided by some good penalty killing in the early going by Potts who teamed with Todd Wilbur to prevent the big guns from Lindsay widening. their lead. In the Midget B game following the A game Port Perry defeated Beaverton 6-5 on two goals by Todd Healey. ar >" &, ww ¥ Ld 0.,.%.70) | ROW A LF LO 26 SEY wy dir a0, LI By i950) NPE ' Fy ' wt 4 os JS H hay . ATH ei \ PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., December 12, 1979 -- 15, Three broomball teams record shut-outs prevent a ball from crossing the goal line after it had passed goaltender Rick McLean. Blackstock had three good scoring chances in the second period but missed them all. Rick Alpe and Ron Wagg were stopped in the opéning minute and Keith Dalton was prevented from scoring on a clear break away later in the frame. Lawrence Peeters added the insurance goal at 4:12 of the third on an assist from Christie. C & B Livestock took another shutout victory; this time 4-0 over third place Larocque Electric in the third game. Doug Scott, who played a strong game, put C & B 58 'y Cred TY WS wv . ahead after a scoreless first Don Phinney in the slot. Instead of shooting Phinney spotted Scott open at the corner of the net for the tip in at 1:23. Ken Fraser put C & B ahead 2-0 at 7:10 after redirecting a Ron Redman shot. Ken Fraser also drew an assist. Larocque was assessed an illegal broom penalty with 4:13 to go and were forced to play two men short for three minutes. They killed off both infractions. Phinney got the third C & B marker when Ken Bryant who has been a standout lately, missed the net with a shot but Rob Evans picked up the rebound and passed to Phinney. Phinney punched it in with 5:16 to go. MoJacks trounced 15-4 by Cobourg Port Perry MoJacks came back to earth with a heavy thud as they were whipped 15-4 by the Cobour Cougars in Cobourg Monday night. The loss ended a six game unbeaten streak for the Mo- Jacks and came on the heels of a 12-4 win over Port Hope SAturday night. For the Cougars, Carl De- line did most of the damage with three goals and two assists, while Steve Jones picked up four goals for the home town team. The MoJacks, missing three regular defensemen and a forward were outskat- ed and outplayed during the entire contest. Ray Gibson and Merle Sch- ewaga split the goal-tending chores for Port Perry with the latter letting nine pucks get by him. For Port Perry, Phil Coch- rane scorred two goals, while Steve Geer and Clarke Menzies netted one each. MoJacks play again to- night (Wednesday) in Stouff- ville, tomorrow night in Port Hope and have back to back weekend games against the Bowmanville Eagles. < o® ORC OR A nn re eH HE io roe oe BECCA SUI SUE SRE SRO A SO RD ADI GOD AO SRO 200 900 Misa ts Seviant qetttttt rT NORTH BROCK ' MOTOR SALES LTD. cordially invite you and your family to attend our 10th ANNUAL PRESENTATION Motor Homes - Travel Trailers - Fifth Wheels - Introducing 1980 Models of Master Coach, Corsair/ Aristocrat, Citation/Centurion, Triple E/Leocraft, Boler, Swinger/Honey, Can.
