$ MoJacks whip Beaverton (From page 10) Beaverton got that one back less than a minute later when captain Paul Westcott ripped a screened slap shot from 30 feet. MoJack captain Bill Bridge, who plays an aggressive style and never stops hustling, put his team ahead for good with a power play effort at 18:27 of the first, finishing off a clever three-way passing play from Darrin Jobb and Rob Greiner. Darrin Jobb capped off a five-goal MoJack surge in the second period when he tipped the puck into the net during a wild pile-up in front of Kea at 19:31 to make the score 7-2 and put the game well out of reach. Burly Rob Garrow round- ed out the Mojack scoring late in the third when he muscled his way into the clear after taking a pass from newcomer Mike Mitchell. Mitchell, who wore number 10 on Sunday night, played his second game as a MoJack and he picked up a couple of assists. He is a gritty performer who is not afraid to stir things up in the corners. MoJacks had another new- comer in uniform for the first time. Greg Dwyer, an experienced Junior player from Oshawa saw regular duty along the blue line and showed some good puck- handling ability. Dwyer's experience also ~ seemed to have a steadying affect on the other Port Perry defenders who moved the puck out of their own end with authority. MoJacks were skating hard and passing the puck crisply througout the contest. Ray Gibson in the MoJack nets was not over-worked, but he made several key saves early in the contest, especial- ly during one stretch when the team was two men short. Along with his two goals, Phil Cochrane had a couple of assists, while Rob Garrow had a four-point night with a goal and three assists. Following Sunday night's game MoJacks had 25 points, two ahead of Beaverton and two behind Uxbridge. The team has a chance to take over sixth spot in the stand- ings this Sunday night when Uxbridge will be the visitors. As the schedule winds down this month, the MoJacks are obviously look- ing ahead to the play-offs, and if the team can win its remaining three games and finish in sixth spot, they will meet the third place finisher in the opening round which could likely be Cobourg or Port Hope. Although the MoJacks have had a hot and cold season, looking very good some nights and terrible on others. observers close to the team feel they have the personnel capable of beating any club in the league. Unlike past seasons, there has been no dominant club in the Junior C loop this year, and while the MoJacks are in seventh spot, the 25 points they have amassed are not too many away from third place. At the moment, Cobourg, Port Hope and Bowmanville all appear to have shot at first place with Lindsay and Stouffville not too far behind and when the schedule is complete, the play-off structure should prove very interesting. The MoJacks main problem this season seem to have been a lack of consistency. Nevertheless, the club has proved on several occasions that they have a potent scoring attack, and they could very well surprise a few teams when the play-offs roll around.
