The evening is on Friday, February 8 when a young Port Perry man accompan- ied by two fine artist friends appear on the old Town Hall stage to perform for a local audience. Kenneth Webster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Webster, 69 Simcoe St. S, can ®100k back on a varied and interesting musical educa- tion and career. Locally he began his piano studies with the late Mrs. R. Harper and cello lessons with Vic Stouffer. His advanced studies on piano and voice were under the guidance of highly quali- fied teachers at the Univers- ity of Toronto. After receiv- ing his Bachelor of Music degree, Mr. Webster continued his studies with * Megan Rutledge, and toured Canada and Europe with the World famous Festival Singers of Canada. He has performed on radio, T.V., made recordings and also performed with the Canadian Opera Co. Chorus, and a tenor soloist in several choral-orchestral work, such as Handel's Messiah and Mozart's Coronation Mass. Appearing on the same program is Phyllis Cooper, a graduate of University of Toronto with an Honours Music degree. Ms. Cooper was also a member of the Festival Singers for several years, and was busy performing as a soloist as well, on tours of Canada and Europe. She has given several solo recitals in Toronto, performed with East York Symphony and Toronto Opera Reportory. David Faulkner, the evening's accompanist studied piano and organ at the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Music. He graduated from the Honours Music program in 1973 and has since been active musically at various church concerts in and around Toronto. His experience includes work with the Toronto Gilbert and Sullivan Society, The Gallery Children's Theatre in London, Ont., and performances of Handel's Messiah and Menotti's opera Amahl and the Night Visitors. The program is varied and interesting and should satisfy the taste of the most discriminate listener of fine vocal music. Included are songs by Richard Strauss, Robert Schuman, Giacomo Carissini and P.I. Tchaikow- sky and arias from operas by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Sigmund Romberg. At present, 10 yr. old Todd Haist is in the Oshawa Hospi- tal. Later he will go to Sick Childrens Hospital and undergo two hip operations and then be in a cast for some time. We trust you will give him your thoughtful support to help make his future days a little brighter. John Pearce has returned from the Oshawa Hospital after an artery removal. He is quite well but has to take it easy during complete recovery. Although Mrs. Christena Prentice returned from hospital, it seems that she may have to go to Oshawa for further tests. Angus Wilkinson is still having tests and X-rays in Oshawa. We hope a solution to his trouble will soon be discovered. Gordon Pogue went to Oshawa Hospital this week as flu prevented him from earlier treatment. In spite of a little snowfall and a blustery period, Sunday turned into a beauti- ful day to welcome many people at the Island Church for the Holy Communion Service and a Baptism when Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lang of Aldred's Beach presented their second little daughter Rosemary Frances and were accompanied by the God- parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Peter of Toronto. After the service about 30 relatives and neighbours gathered at the Lang home for a buffet lunch and social time.
