3 by Dave Dalton Frebruary 3rd ..In the Emmerson-C&B game, it looked in the first period as if Emmerson's was going to give C&B a run for their money. C&B scored first when Doug Scott and Don Phinney assisted Rob Evans. Emmerson's replied five minutes later 'when Doug Mappin tapped in a pass from Hugh Yake. This was to be their only goal as in the second period C&B February 10th C&B Suffers 1st Defeat Up until this weekend C&B had a perfect record of 15 wins, 1 tie, and np losses, but the ball stopped as Beacock's handed them their first loss of the season in a 2-1 'squeaker. Beacock's then held off the powerful C&B offence for almost two full periods until Ron Redman fired a shot past Rick McLean on the power play with 18 seconds to play in the second. Kevin Martens got the lone assist on that one. With 9 seconds to play in the game Mark Lee took a penalty deep in his own end resulting in a face-off to the left of Fraser. Beacock's won the draw and Wayne McGuigan put the ball into the net with 1 second to play after Cordell Kuening had fired a shot from the point. It should be noted C&B was missing a couple of players who were with the Junior C_ . | Broomball Action| i} turned on the after-burners. The last game of the day saw Emmerson's and Larocque tie at 0-0. Larocque's were missing forward Bill Bridge, and goaltender Kevin Beer, whose place was filled in by Bernie Balling, who came up with some fine saves. Emmerson's had the advan- tage for most of the game but due fo some errant passes . and a few bad shots they couldn't connect. With Bridge missing Larocque's couldn't quite get their offence going to slip a shot past Emmerson's goaler Bill Gerber. With this tie and Beacocks win all three teams are now tied in the standings and it should be interesting to see who gets the last two play-off spots as there are only two weeks of Back row from left are Kelly West, Robert Ackerman, Steven Ackerman and play left.
