Obituary Lawrence Rudolph Best A member of Local 463 Plumbing and Steam fitting, Lawrence R. Best died suddenly at his home at RK.R. 4 Port Perry. Wednesday, January 23. 1980. Born May 18, 1918. in Grand Cascapedia. Quebec, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Best. - He was married August 6, 1941, in Sherbrooke. Quebec. He is survived by his wife the former Ruth Hayward. a son Richard. daughters Donna. Barbara. Sally and Kathy. He is also survived by sisters Amy. Leona and Lila of Grand Cascapedia. Jean of Ajax and a brother Clem of Calgary. Also survived by his eight grand- children. Mr. Best served overseas during the second World War three vears and seven months with the Canadian Armies He was at the Panabaker McDermott Funeral Home. Service was held in the chapel Saturday January 26. at eleven o'clock by the Rev Brawn of Port Perry United Church with interment in Pin: Grove Cemetary. Prince Albert. Heron The Ashburn group of the W.M.S. met last Wednesday at the home of the President, Mrs. Daw. Mrs. Wm. Gard- ner gave the opening devotions and the study was given by Mrs. S. McEntyre ending with a summary that the members all participat- ed in. The annual meeting of Burns Church was held last Friday evening in the Church Hall. Prior to the meeting everyone sat down to a delicious pot luck supper. After supper the children enjoyed some films. Miss Hilda Hopkins is in Oshawa Hospital recovering from Surgery on her foot, we send Hilda our best wishes and hope she will be home soon and feeling much better. Visiting this week with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gardner were Mr. and Mrs. Frank McKimm, Mr. Norman Samells, Mrs. Wilbur Parr- inder, Mrs. Irma Tripp and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Gardner and Shawn agd Mr. Wm. Lee. Mr. Kevin Knight has been enjoying a holiday in Florida. The sanctuary of Burns Church was beautiful this past week with living philo- dendron in the flower boxes and the planter in the foyer was also cared for. Thanks to our ladies guild and the help of Judy Morgan flower shop of Whitby. Rev.
