PAINT BUYS: Kem Namel Semi-Gloss Latex DEY Juveniles nip RR RAA A ZAI Uxbridge 5-3 to take series by Danny Millar The Port Perry Emiel's Place juveniles used two Dave Dickson goals to grab a 5-3 victory and wrap up its series with Uxbridge on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Port won the best of seven playdowns in six games. They begin the second round on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at home. Port Perry never trailed in the match, as they had never been behind in the series. They opened a two goal lead on Dickson's markers but by the five minute' mark of the second period Uxbridge had knotted the score. The teams exchanged singles before Port put it away in the latter half of the match. Port Perry started strong- ly buzzing around Uxbridge netminder Larry-Comer in the first three minutes with- out getting a goal. Dickson scored seven minutes later when he walked around a defenceman and fired in a wrist shot to the low stick side of Comer. Port had three more scoring chances in the final seconds left. five minutes but Comer came up with stops on Robert Kemp twice, and Tim Thompson. In the opening period Uxbridge would have been run off the ice if it wasn't for Comer. Dickson got his second goal at 1:56 of the second period when he banged a shot past Comer. Like his _ first, this one was unassist- ed. Consecutive goals by Doug Harrison put Uxbridge back on even terms. Harrison was one of the fastest skaters on the ice. He had been brought up from the Uxbridge midget team. On the first goal he took a pass from Ken Marshall and skated around the net and slipped it in past Glen Archibald. Harrison's second goal came 2:03 later at 5:40 when he was situated in front of the net. He snared a pass from Bob McIntyre from the corner and slipped it in. Mark Cleveland followed with a beautiful goal to regain the Port Perry lead. Cleveland carried the puck in from about center, went around defender John Clarke and labelled a quick wrist shot into the goal. Scott Heard drew the assist. Not to be outdone, Harrison replied with his third goal of the second period. It was a masterpiece coming with 6:15 remaining. He went down the right wing and was apparently ridden out of the play cleanly by Craig Mullen. He maintain- ed control of the puck while on his knees, got up and from the sharp angle, lofted a shot over Archibald's shoulder. The shot came from ten feet in from the side boards. Port Perry pressured in the final minute of the action filled frame as Dickson got a chance but was stopped. Tim Parker put in a shot to regain the slight lead for the second time after the puck had been knocked ahead from Thompson with 31 Rick Bayard, who had performed strongly early in the series, made a costly miscue part way through the final segment that supplied the insurance goal for Port. Bayard had the puck stolen from him by Dave Canning at centre ice, clearing the way for a two on one. Canning elected to shoot and then he pocketed his own rebound at 7:16. Uxbridge's final chance came with 7:21 left. when Parker took the second straight Port Perry penalty. Dickson had been called 49 seconds earlier, so the visitors were at a two man disadvantage for 1:11. Uxbridge could not sustain an offensive attack. Late in the game, they removed Comer, replacing him with another shooter but still could not -get a good chance.
