Now wr \ by Doreen Kendall It's been a busy week for the Don Forder Insurance Atom Selects with three winning games. All the boys seem to be back in the swing of things and each and every boy gave a superb effort in nailing down the victories. Tuesday, March 4th the Forder Selects journeyed to Orono and coming off a few bad games took Orono to the tune of 5-3. Orono scored the 'first two goals but from that point on it was Port's game all the way. Brad McNenly scored the first marker with Bobby Bryans and Andrew Steele picking -up assists. Steve Connors got our second goal of the match with Jamie Bantams advance (From page 11) the net went in after a shot from the point by Martens was blocked. With five aside, Kerry fin- alized the scoring, with 1:32 remaining on the identical feint that had been so succ- essful for Oosterholt. He went to Fry's stick side and knocked the puck into an open side. Only once did Fry manage to poke check it off Oosterholt's stick during the last two games. Port Perry bcame the first team to reach the mandatory six points with the two wins in the last two games. They finished with three wins, and" a tie in four games, good enough for seven points. Saturday had the girls on their home ice against Oshawa. Because of weather conditions and the flu bug which has invaded the majority of our kids, our team was short players. So calling on the juniors for help, we strengthened our team and put up a good fight. Port Perry's lone goal was scored by Jill Kendall. Final score of the game was 4 - 1 for Oshawa. Sunday morning, the Tweens had their parents up bright and early to head for Oro. Playing the first game of a two weekend tourna- ment, our Tweens put forth a strong effort. Heather Muir, our goalie, played a super game, allowing in only 8 of the many shots on goal. The final outcome of the game was Oro 8, Port Perry 1. The credit for Port's one lone goal goes to a well- deserving player, Natalie Franssen, who played an excellent game. The girls go back to Oro on March 29, The new Ontario Child Welfare Act requires that professional persons who work with orwho treat children must report suspected cases of child abuse to a Children's Aid Society. That's the law. Reporting suspicions of child abuse is one of the best ways to help prevent child abuse happening again. Child abuse is everyone's concern. Teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers --all persons who work with or who treat children--need your active support if they are to keep children from being abused. The professionals need your assistance. You're part of the solution. To find out more about child abuse write for our free booklet, "YOU AND THE ABUSED CHILD" . High Single: P. Crawford - 352.
