Weekend guests were Barry and Frances Fisher, Susan and Leanne of London, Ont. Daughters Susan and Leanne spent the winter break with their grandmoth- er Mrs. Fisher. Quite a number from this area attended the Dessert Luncheon, Bridge and Euchre held in the Masonic Hall, Queen St. Port Perry on Wed. March 19th, spons- ored by Blue Ray Chapter, No. 238 Order of the Eastern Star. Food was in bountiful supply to tempt the most jaded appetite, and for those participating an exciting game of cards completed the afternoon. Many won covet- ed prizes. Several members attended Sunbeam Chapter on Thurs- day evening for Grand Officer night and report a wonderful time. NORTH NESTLETON CHURCH Rev. Victor Parsons based his topic Paid in Full on Holy Scriptures Isaiah 53: 1-9 and John 16: 16-33. A strong Lenten Sermon with much food for thought. In the choir it was good to have our regular organist Mrs. L. Malcolm presiding for the service. A trio namely Bernice Mairs, Janet Bruce and Mabel Cawker sang a favourite Easter hymn Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross accompanied Prince Albert news by Ilean Pugh Congratulations to the students of McBrien School of Creativity on their production of 'Don't Leave the Farm Boys'. It was a most enjoyable evening. Louisa Van Ravdswaay celebrated her second birth- day a day early on March 18th. Supper guest were grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. Hill and Mr. and Mrs. D. Dick. Louisa was surprised with a doll shaped cake. Friends and neighbours of Glady Mahaffy are pleased to know that you are getting out and around after having back surgery. The Les Beacocks were happy to have two of their grandsons Lee and Blair for a couple of days last week. The winners were as follows: Ladies-Susie Harris Dorothy McDiarmid, Ruby Birkett. Men-Vivian Carl, Bert Gibson, Charlie McLaughlin. Winner of the lone hand series-Ab Timms with 15. . Mr. and Mrs. Allan Martyn former residents of Prince Albert have returned home after vacationing in Arizona. They visited with relatives and friends. Visiting with their parents this weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brethour and family of Peterborough. Mrs. Ilene Hodgins and daughter Heather have returned from Florida after spending the winter break with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Love have returned from the sunny south. While in Florida they spent some time with Pat's brother Dr. Jackson at New Smyrna Beach and Clayton's brother Cliff and Grace at Port Lucie. Call Grace Beacock 985-3691 for news next week. CLOSURE OF SANITARY LANDFILL SITE by the organist. The solo part was taken by Janet Bruce was much enjoyed. Next Sunday is Palm Sun. (March 30) and the Sacra- ment of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated. A good attendance is expected. Offering was received by Mr. Ralph Sadler and Mr. Norman Mairs. HOSPITAL NEWS Get well wishes to those confined to hospital from this area namely: Clarence Ginn Amy Ginn, Nestleton, and Mrs. Chester Pedzikowski of Caesarea. Mr. Marvin Nes- bitt of Nestleton has been released from hospital this past week. CAESAREA EUCHRE Wednesday evening scores: were as follows: 1. Dorothy Samms, 2. Gwen Robbins, Low Carol McMillan. A very good attendance for the party this past week. Try to attend this Wed. evening at 8 p.m. at the Caesarea centre and support the Ladies Auxiliary the hard working girls who plan those enjoy- able evenings. CARTWRIGHT SOFTBALL LEAGUE (notice) Registration nights boys and girls 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 27 at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. April 1 at Caesarea Centre. April 2 at the Nestleton Recreation Centre. Cost $7.00 per child. Junior ages-7 years tg, 10 years. Senior ages 11 years to 14 years. Age before June 1st. Registration deadline is April 2nd at Nestleton Recreation Centre. NESTLETON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Rev. Fred Swann deliver- ed a Lenten sermon to a small congregation on Sun. March 23 at 11 a.m. Roads and weather were not too enticing hence the smaller attendance. Mrs. Janice Douglas presided at the electric organ. March 30th, Palm Sunday will be celebrated and we trust weather conditions will be more pleasant so that a better congregation will be present for this meaningful service. SYMPATHY Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Della Edgerton and family in the loss of a husband and father, the later Mr. Harry Edgerton who was 'a resident of Hillsdale Manor 'Nursing Home in Oshawa at the time of his death. Mr. Edgerton was well known within this area and will be missed by so may folks. Sorry to learn of the death of a neighbour, Mr. Frank Mollard who passed away March 6th at 'Windsor Western Hospital Centre. Frank had been a resident of Windsor for a good part of his life and spent enjoyable summer months at their beautiful cottage at Scugog Point. A very familiar figure within the area. Frank was involved in many interesting endeavours during his life- time and will be sadly miss- ed by his wife Violet, daugh- ter Madeline and son Frank, Jr., as well as grandchildren brothers and sisters. We extend sympathy from the area. We from the area extend condolences to the family of the late Mr. Elmer Wright, daughter David Bowler and family of Oshawa, Emma and brothers Roy and Leslie, also Victor and Winnie Malcolm where Elmer had resided during the past several years. A fine gentleman who will be missed very much in the Nestleton community. rd SOCIAL AND PERSONAL During the March school break Sam and Mabel Cawker entertained two granddaughters Chandre Cawker of Scarborough and Cathy Cawker of Oshawa. Quite an interesting week for all concerned. Weekend guests at the Cawker farm were Chris and Curt, grandsons from Oshawa who took advantage of the Spring snowfall to have a joyous round of snow- mobiling. CONGRATULATIONS Heartiest congratulations to the Port Perry Star Publisher, Editor and Staff for winning second place for General Excellence re- Ontario Weekly Newspapers Association, in their class.
