Tennis Club plans '80 season by Danny Millar According to Executive member Dave Nicholishen, the Port Perry Tennis Club almost definitely will not be raising its cost per partici- pants for the coming season. He said that he forsees no changes in this direction for the coming summer, but this and other issues will be decided at the annual meet- ing on Monday, May 12. The meeting, which is open to the public, starts at 8:00 at the Old Town Hall. Accord- ing to Nicholishen, who has served as club president in the past, anyone interested in joining the club, or in helping in any way, can go to the meeting and inquire then. J "We'ed like to see more people involved in the day to day workings of the club," says Nicholishen. "We're looking for volunteers, we're looking for committees." Examples he gave of the various committees include tournament organizers and social night heads. The club execs will be meeting before the annual public meeting to decide some of the forthcoming issues. During a brief discussion Nicholishen emphasized the need for more volunteers so that the work load is spread "more evenly throughout the club, a familiar refrain heard from minor sports executives in Port Perry. He used an example that the wind screens around the courts were put up by volun- teers over the weekend. "It takes people" he said. in fact, it took eight of them to finish off that particular chore.
