Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dobson and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmot Phair spent a few days in Stratford last week, stopping on their way home to visit Jim Rennies in Kitchener. Mrs. Gallent from Toronto and Mark home from university to help Dad celebrate his birthday. Happy returns of the day. Mr. and Mrs. Art Couves home from Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson of Balsom visited Sunday with Fred Dobson's. At the shower held Satur- day, Debbie Critch received many lovely gifts. Saturday morning found all the U.C.W. women gathering at the Church and Hall. While one group pre- pared a hot luncheon, the other one busied themselves receiving display items and getting everything organiz- ed. Eventually over 150 visitors arrived, to be enter- tained by a fine display of paintings or art entered by Frank Hortop, Madeline Cawker, Donna Griffin, Nancy Forbes, Charlene Alexander, Greg Pomeroy, Sylvia Brown, Sheila Dant- zer. The people who so kindly came to demonstrate their craft or hobbies were Mrs. Roy Cornish-sweater knitting on machine, John Kingstone-his army of miniature soldiers, Violet Hanley-ceramics, Suzanne Gray and friend-silk flowers. The prize winners of the lucky draw were Amanda Redman and Mrs. June Haynes. We wish to thank all those who so kindly brought or lent their items for displays. With such a heavy week- end and the time being push- ed ahead, many were just too tired to attend Church at the early hour on Sunday. For the children, Rev. Clarke had another disciple-apostle story which involved the brothers Andrew and Peter. On Saturday, Mrs. Eliza- beth Stichmann attended a 30th anniversary celebration at Hampton. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Roy' Freeman travelled to London to pick up their daughter Tammy as she has just finished her third year at College. Mrs. Freeman has also made frequent calls to the Lindsay Hospital where her father is quite ill. Mrs. Myrtle Thomas spent the weekend in Uxbridge visiting Miss Roberta Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lundy of Whitby visited Mr. and Mrs. Howard McMillan on Sunday. Miss Mary Forfar of Agin- court is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. Mildred Thomson. Several attended the Scugog Choral Society concert in Port Perry Satur- day evening. The bowling gals, Janice Anstey, Sheila Williamson, Jean Rodd, Ruby Dusty, Ruby Beare, Brenda Gibson and Mary Jean Till attended their banquet in Uxbridge Saturday night. Happy returns of the day to Mrs. Reazin of Wick. Glad to report the sick are improving slowly. Many visited the fair at Lloyd Wilson's Sale barn, some of our local folk were participating. Bob Rumble guest speaker at United Church The Port Perry United Church Anniversary Evening Service on May 4th at 7:30 p.m. has been set up this year by the youth group of the church. We are happy to say that we have as our special guest speaker, the most popular Rev. Bob Rumball from Willowdale. Some of you might remember Bob as an Ottawa Roughrider or Toronto Argonaut because before he began his full time ministry with the deaf, he spent a number of years in the CFL.
