Crash victims names released Durham Region Police have released the names of three young men who died in a flaming 'tar crash on the Third Concession Road, just west of Uxbridge on July 12. Positive identification of the three victims was carried out at the Forensic Sciences Centre in Toronto. They lost their lives when the car they were in left the road, hit a tree and burst into flames. The driver, Ted Harding, 17, of Agincourt, and a pass- enger, Glen Michael Brown of Toronto, were thrown free before the car burst into flames. They are both in hospital in Toronto with serious injur- ies. The accident is still being investigated by Durham Police. Township alike could be enjoying an additional seven acres of parkland along the Lake Scugog waterfront in Port Perry. The land in question is located to the north of the new boat-launching ramp between the Lake Scugog shoreline and the old rail- road right-of-way which runs northeast towards Lilla Street. Over the past six or seven years, the Township Works department bit by bit, has been re-claiming the land which at one time was noth- ing more than a wet, marshy Mr. and Mrs. Paul Diamond of R.R. 2, Seagrave, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 19. Using fill from the Queen Street reconstruction project under way this summer and fill from several other Town- ship construction projects over the years, some 100,000 cubic yards of material has been dumped on the land. Roads superintendent Ron MacDonald said this week that, a drag-line operation will get underway shortly to deepen the lake and the material from this will be used to build the land up. It offers an excellent view of Lake Scugog, is close to the boat-launching facilities, and there is plenty of free parking in the Township owned lot to the southeast. There are plans to build a small parking area with the only access coming off Lilla Street via a Township road allowance which at present is unopened. Once the land has been seeded and trees planted, it should be ready for public use by next summer, and will help to take some of the pressure off the municipally owned Palmer and Birdseye Parks, both of which get considerable use on any summer weekend.
