Mr. Dowson told council that if possible, he would like to see some lots go on the 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. At Your Local PETERBOROUGH LUMBER - building by Donna Phypers For the past two weeks, twenty children have been fortunate enough to attend a special camp held at Camp Samac. All of these children An asthmatic child, in -years past, has always had his physical activities limit- ed because of the strain it had on the child's ability to breathe. Today, things are different. There are many new drug treatments and preventative therapies avail- able, and thus, Doctors and therapists advocate plenty of physical activity. That's what this camp is all about. Mrs. Tibbles, the Director of the Durham Lung Association stresses that the main objective of the camp is to show the children that they can and should participate in any physical activity that they want to try and that they should not in any way feel hampered by their asthma. Speaking from a personal level, I know that this parti- regularly and who must also learn breathing exercises. Being part of a group where all the children have the same problem makes it easier for the child to try new Koke, the Camp Director, counsellors, Mrs. Cicci, Mrs. Barta and Junior Counsellor Jeff Barta. Mrs. Sears is the Staff Nurse. All of these people do a terrific job and they have the respect and admiration of twenty sets of parents as well as twenty children. The children begin their day with breathing exercises and then they may go swimming or hiking or canoeing, have a sing song or work on a craft. The camp runs for two weeks, every day from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with one overnight sleep on "Parents Night". Speaking personally again, "Parents Night" is an exper- ience in itself! Registration for the next camp will be some time next spring, but before that you Heather of recently. " Mrs. Irma Tripp and Mrs Wm. Gardner visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hogg of Fenelon Falls.
