LY ¥ is 4 } 14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, July 30, 1980 Port Perry PeeWee MoJacks beaten 11-8 by Uxbridge There was no shortage of run production from the Port Perry PeeWee MoJacks, but defensively they lapsed, allowing Uxbridge to come away with an 11-8 win on Tuesday, July 22, in Port Perry. Uxbridge spread its scoring out, tallying in five of the seven innings. Their best frame was the fifth when they got four runs. They got to starter Jeff Cockerton for three runs in the top of the first. Port Perry had only one good stanza to speak of, the third, when they got four runs and batted through the order. Fred Cockerton tripled home Paul Robinson for the first run and then he scored when 'Steve Solomon legged out an infield single. Second baseman Tom Carvounus made two errors that allowed in a pair of markers. After Robinson had given up two run scoring singles and loaded the bases in the fifth, Port Perry coach Fred Cockerton Sr. reinserted Jeff Cockerton into the pitching position. The younger Cockerton gave up an un- earned run after Robinson, then playing second base, made a wide throw at the plate. When Robinson came in to pitch in the third inning it forced coach Cockerton to make four fielding changes. Uxbridge got one run in the third segment when pitcher Jason Canavan drove in a run with a line drive single to left field. They would have scored again, but for center- on 3 A lot of people call life "The Survival of the Fittest". You know, a lot of people are right. Base- runner Colin Mackie accidentally spiked first baseman Fred Cockerton on the ankle as he was lifting his leg off the bag and the Port Perry team took exception. Coach Cockerton exchanged words with the Uxbridge coach over the incident but nothing more came of the incident. The day before the MoJacks had heen beaten 6-3 by West Shore.
