Jones attended decoration services at St. John's Cemetery in' West Brock last Sunday. . Greenbank decoration at the cemetary is this Sunday, August 17th at 2:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lee spent last Wednesday and Thursday in Dundalk visit- ing relatives. Marjorie Beaton was visit- ing Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beaton at their cottage at Burnt River over the weekend. News from Scugog Island by Mrs. Earl Reader Mr. and Mrs. Orval Heayn have returned to their Island home after spending a two week vacation in Western Canada and particularly at the homes of their two sons Arnold and Bruce in Victoria B.C. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Port View Beach returned from a vacation in Florida and decided that there are few places that can beat Scugog for comfort. Sheila Donaldson of Port View Beach has been holi- daying at the Presbyterian Girls' Camp at Bracebridge. Archie Anderson has left the Ruddy Hospital and is ""Tecuperating at the home of his brother Andy, at Port View. . Fred Oxley of Port View has been critically ill in the Oshawa Hospital. His daughter from Houston, Texas, along with other members of the family came home to be with their father during this sudden illness. We do trust relief has been found and that he is improv- ing. _ It is nice to once again hear about the people from Port View. If you were to visit them you would find they have a Cottagers' Associa- tion, tho' most are perma- nent residents now. Thro' the years, they have develop- ed a central, well equipped playground for their child- ren. When new things are needed and funds dwindle they just call a meeting and start planning. Accordingly they have a big money making event coming up September 13 starting at 12 noon. It will comprise a complete Fun Day with baking and craft sale and -flea market as well as games for the children. Among the refreshments there will be a corn roast and hot dogs. Raffles also gain interestina Gas Barbecue, Workmate and G.E. Toaster over and tickets are already available from any member. of. the Association. On the grounds there will be a money doll raffle. It certainly sounds ° like an interesting day and we wish them luck with good weather and lots of visitors. So this is a Saturday you just must mark on your calendar. Mrs. Bonnie Gerrow's mother, Mrs. Stephen of Estavan, Sask., has been visiting with the Gerrows and enjoying their new homes. There will be one more Sunday away from the Island Church. The August meeting of the Women's Institute will be held on Wednesday, August 20th at 12:30 with a pot luck picnic style at the park. We wish to welcome Jill and Gord Bresnahan to our community. They are resid- ing in the Real house south of the village. Mrs. Helen Thomson ent- ertained the Thomson family ladies to a luncheon and shower on Sunday afternoon for Donna Ballard who is to be married soon, Mr. and Mrs. Mel McGee attended the Miller wedding 'on Saturday, at Maple Lake. Mrs. Donna West, Suzanne and Scott from Perrsboro, Nova Scotia, spent a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. McKean recently. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter attended a family birthday party on Sunday at Fenelon Falls to celebrate the 88th birthday of Mrs. Jean Hunt- er of Markham., Mrs. Mildred Thomson and Mrs. Vera Lee attended a shower on Saturday at Port Perry in honour of Miss LLL CTT RECORD, CRAFT & HOBBY WORLD PORT PERRY PLAZA 985-2839 Donna Ballard. It was host- ed by Dorothy and Wendy Bourgeois. Recent Visitors with Mrs. Myrtle Thomas were Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Clark of Manchester, Mr. and Mrs. Rol Daniels of Grand Valley, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Cook of Weston and Mr. and Mrs. L. Smith of Cookstown. Debbie and Brian Beattie spent last weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mel McGee, prior to leaving for Calgary where Brian is employed with Belmac Pipe Lines.
