Wake me when this is over Western Weekend? What's all the fuss about? | wish | was home so | could get a decent nap. Six month old Amanda Langsford of Prince Albert opened her eyes just long enough for this photo at the Midway Sunday afternoon. Seagrave slow (From page 1) i who advocated that there be no further growth in the community. "I think most people there recognize that there has to be some growth in all the hamlets of the Township", he told the Star. "But it should be slow and controlled so as not to cause any dispurtions in the community." I don't think the -develop- 'ment that already has taken place there has hurt the community," he added. There are presently 70 existing houses in Seagrave, and the development plan recommendations say that future growth should not exceed 150 units, and the rate should be at five per year. Aside from in-filling of existing lots, the plan suggests two areas of the - community for subdivision growth - one to the north-east in behind the park for up to 45 lots, and the other on the east side of Regional Road Two, south of the Nonquon River with 15 lots. Councillor Crosier said the main concerns expressed at the meeting by the residents were over possible pollution of existing water supplies by future growth; the impact of future growth in general and the effects on existing community facilities such as the parkland. He added that some of those present suggested that Robinglade and Mariposa Estates should be included in the boundaries of Seagrave. These two subdivisions are Mariposa Township (Victoria County). The development plan recommendations call for no industrial growth in Sea- grave, and say that any in-filling of lots or subdivi- sions should "complement - tural growth and enhance the architec- character of the community." The monitoring program for any new growth would be the responsibility of Scugog Township and the Ministry of the Environment. If it is found that there are water problems arising, the recommendations say that further new development could be curtailed. In order to help present soil and water supply contamination, the recom- mendations say that the minimum lot size of any new subdivision development be one acre, so that there is sufficient reserve area for tile field reconstruction if necessary. Township council holds a planning meeting early in September and the Seagrave development plan could be on the agenda of that meet- ing.
