If I have no trouble with bike should be able to make it home. If not.....I don't know! Thursday, March 24, 1966 - Left St. Louis in 27 degree weather. Had to stop every 20 miles to get circulation back into my hands and feet. Reached Indianapolis (237 miles) and am almost frozen. Had to wait a few minutes to thaw out before signing the register. Hotel room cost $2.25. Friday, March 25, 1966 - Left Indianapolis in 28 degree weather and snow. Stopped every 10 miles to get warm. Travelled to about 100 miles from Detroit and checked into a hotel. It is snowing very hard now, and it is going to be cold again tomorrow. It is here that the diary stops. The remainder of the trip as I recall it was much the same, but the lure of home becameéstronger every day. Upon arrival back in Uxbridge I am sure I must have promised myself to never travel on motorcycle in the month of March again. The rest of the contents of the box was an assortment of photos and souveniers from various places, nothing of too much interest. The Port Perry High School choir was under the leadership of Miss Yvonne McFadyen. Congratulations to Brooklin Lacrosse Club who are now All-Ontairo Champions Intermediate A. 15 YEARS AGO Thursday, October 14, 1965 Dr. M.B. Dymond, health minister of Ontairo, said recently that hospitals in Russia, "fall far short of our standards." He was disillusioned with the Russian way of lifewhile on tour there recently. Through the kindness and generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Pattrick Harrison of Seven Mile Island, on Satur- day evening, the Scugog Ramette Ball Team and their families were feted at a delicious banquet and evening of entertainment. ' Thanksgiving weekend guests of Mrs. Ernie Hayes were eighteen of her close relatives, Margaret, Harold, Pat, Helen and families. Ashburn News - Miss Linda Porter of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. M. Sparks. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Crosier are in Port Perry for the winter months. Miss Betty Cawker, R.N., left last week for the Yukon, where she has accepted a position of super- intendent at the hospital in Mayo. 10 YEARS AGO Thursday, October 15, 1970 Reeve Lawrence Malcolm will be seeking re-election in Cartwright Township on December 7. Mr. Malcolm has been reeve for the past three years. Port Perry Deputy-Reeve Bruce Beare, will not be seeking re-election in December. Mr. Beare has served nine years on council, four of them as deputy-reeve. Frank Gibson, bylaw enforcement officer, says the number of sheep killing incidents in the township has increased significantly in the past few months. Wolves are suspected to be the biggest culprits. Blackstock News - Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Archer went with Mr. Vincent Archer to attend the 70th Wed- ding Anniversary of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook of Beaverton. St. John's Presbyterian Church celebrated their 90th Anniversary of the formation of their W.M.S. on October 14th. The president Mrs. E. Hooper, chaired the meeting. On October 5th, the women directors of the Port Perry Fair Board, gathered at the home of Mrs. Lawson Honey to present her with a tri-lite table lamp on behalf of all the baord directors for her years of service to the fair. by Ilean Pugh Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. John Brough and family in the passing of John's mother, Mrs. Grace Brough of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock spent a few days holidaying at Stayner, Elmvale and Orillia. The family of Ross and Myrtle Alsop held open house on Sunday for their 45th wedding anniversary. Friends and family came from Marmora, Blackwater, Little Britain, Oshawa, Port Perry and area. Congratu- lations Myrtle and Ross from your friends in Prince albert. Miss Roxy Denniston of Guelph visited on Sunday with her sister Beth and Lloyd Pereman. On Saturday evening 25 from the couples club travelled to Peterborough to Kawartha Downs Race Track for a night of racing then to Rockhaven Restaur- ant before returning home. On Thursday evening, there were sixteen tables of euchre players at the Community Centre. The ladies high Dorothy McDiarmid, second Dorothy Aird, low Georgine McLaughlin. Mens High was Ken Whittington, second Myrtle Alsop and low Mildred Thompson playing as men. Sunday was a special day Albert Church when it cele- brated its 114th anniversary. The morning service was in charge of Rev. Brawn with a guest soloist Marion Minifie of Cold Springs. The regular choir with a few friends also sang. The Lake Scugog Historical Choir sang severr- al anthems. The guest speaker was the Rev. Mark Reeves of Sandy Cove Acres, a former minister here a number of years ago. After the service everyone was invited dgwnstairs for coffee and anniversary cake. Sunday evening dinner guests at Terry and Eileen Hodgins home were Rev. Mark Reeves and lis wife. 'in the life of the Prince Also home for the weekend was Kevin and Heather Hodgins. On Wednesday evening the Community Centre Board will meet at the Hall at 8 o'clock. This meeting is open to anybody who is interested in the hall. The Prince Albert Hall was a busy place Saturday afternoon as the family of Jim and Nora Read held an open house for their parents. Jim and Nora were married &~ 7 4. ' Albert and area news in Prince Albert forty years ago and were residents of Port Perry for many years before moving to Oshawa in 1968. They were very pleased to see many of their old friends from this area. Following the Open House, Jim and Nora were treated to a lovely supper at Conway Gardens with all twenty family members present. Next week's news please call Earline Armstrong at 985-7873. Impressive Renovations Helen and David Chow [above], owners of the newly renovated Town Inn Restaurant were hosts to a number of friends and business acquaintances last Tuesday evening. The Chow's closed the restaurant earlier this summer and extensive renovations have been completed to the inside.
