We hope to make our Church comfortable and attractive .for the many new people who are becoming involved. There are many new babies who have arrived this year to families like Sander- son, Prentice and more recently McLaughlins. They will likely be among the first touse the Baptismal Font. We wonder what benefit is derived by the participants except perhaps the inward satisfaction of public notice. Therefore, it is hoped they get the attention they crave and so rightly deserve when caught. Last week many Island people travelled to the _ ploughing match and inci- dentally were happy to meet former residents such as Van Striens, and Wouters. Two ladies Elsie Pogue and Tillie Burnham, even managed to get on T.V. as are made. Recently they entertained England relat- ives for two weeks. Also, Harley, Reg and Valerie and husband, Tom, just returned from a two week vacation in England, On Wednesday evening the Head U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Marilyn Tripp when we were also pleased to welcome five guests. The theme of the meeting was definitely Thanksgiving which was followed thro' in Hymn, scripture, prayer, roll call and study which was presented by Doreen Adam's group. The Rams also eked out a 1-0 win over the Rebs in a junior contest. The loss snaps the Seniors' winning streak at three games, the highest win total in the last two seasons. They were beaten by a very tough, well drilled squad from Ajax where soccer is one of the major sports. : The score was 5-0 at the end of the first half and it could have been a lot higher but for strong netminding by Alf Huggins. He was caught out of position once, on the Rams third goal. He made three tough stops with Ajax way ahead late in the period. Roger Kraupa got the Rebels on the scoresheets early in the second half when he kicked in a loose ball after the Ajax goalie had bobbled it. ~The surge ended un- ceremoniously less than 30 seconds later when Ajax con- cluded a charge downfield by scoring the sixth marker.
