Scugog area councillor Jerry Jackman raised the issue at Monday's meeting of council, stating that he heard of the rumour from a private citizen. Zoning by-law to standardize wards _given first reading A new comprehensive zoning by-law for the munici- pality was given formal first reading by Township council Monday afternoon. The massive document, Svhich runs well _over-.100 'pages and has been over a year in preparation, essen- tially standardizes "zoning regulations for all four wards of the Township. Although the document is '# not yet ready for circulation to the public, council has set up a series of public open houses to be held November 12, 13, 19 and 20 at the Township offices on Perry Street in Port Perry. The Open House will be ®held from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. on each of these four days with members of the muni- cipal staff, council and a planning expert on hand to discuss details and explain just what the new by-law ¢ does for the municipality. Any objections or altera- tions that cannot be worked out by Scugog council will eventually be heard by the Ontario Municipal Board, likely some time next summer. Regional councillor Reg Rose, who is chairman of Durham's planning commit- tee of council, praised the new zoning by-law Monday afternoon, calling it a "good document." Getting the trick- or-treaters to wear makeup instead of masks is another good idea. In addition, the OML urges parents to accompany child- on their walk, or arrange them to go in a group, ted home.
