The Council is a non-profit organization and provides literacy training to adults in reading, writing and spell- ing; recruits and trains volunteer- tutors to teach students who are illiterate; recruits members from the community to be active in Council activities (ie: fund a raising, planning training workshops, publicity, and outreach). The first training 'work- shop for volunteers will be held in Uxbridge on Novem- ber 7th, 8th and 9th;-1980. An organizational meeting for the Council is scheduled for November 3; 1980 at 7 p.m. at the Family Counsell- ing Office, 58A Brock Street, Uxbridge.
